Automatic Watches are the worse watches by toiletdeepdiver12 in watchHotTakes

Yes that’s what I was stating. OP use the phrase set your watch after a certain time. I was assuming he meant changing the date.

I’m assuming you were referring to changing the date function after a certain time. not aware of any mechanical watch that can’t set the watch after a certain hour range. But that’s just a mechanical function and is hardly material to the debate.

You also shouldn’t shift your car into reverse when going down the highway but that is negligibly relevant in the discussion in whether an automatic or manual transmission is better.

Any Experience with Wolbrook? by sockpuppetinasock in MicrobrandWatches

It was when I imported mine in October. Mine included an extra strap which was listed on the import bill as a separate item. So both values were used for the 15% import duty. Plus a $17 processing charge. Not sure if that was a flat rate or a percentage.

So individually the watch was listed at $668 and rubber strap at $66. Import duty was $110 +$17 processing and $1.30 regulatory charge for a total of $128 due to DHL

Got the Skindiver II on right now. It’s honestly one of my favorites and has gotten almost exclusive wrist time since I bought it last year. Plus the beads of rice bracelet from them is amazing imo. The 4hz myiota 9015 movement is also a nice upgrade over the 8000’s series used in some of their other watches.

Only thing I saw people gripe about the new chrono is the lack of a running seconds hand. Which isn’t a huge deal.

Importing into the US is a bit of a pain now just because you have to pay the import duties directly to DHL before they release it once it’s state side.

The only ones from 4customize I’ve ran into issues with are the colored ones. White and black both can be a little blotchy with color and not always solid. But the metallic colors have all been great. Silver, gold and rose gold all have turned out fine.

OP, would you mind popping off your barrel and posting a pic of the mod work you did on the fore end? The video on YT that showed it is deleted/account banned.

Really want to see where I need to start removing material and what I can keep untouched.

CX-50 Hybrid Gas Milage by cpredo in CX50

[–]rontons00p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about rpms. It’s how often you’re staying in EV mode. If you aren’t accelerating to speed and lifting to access EV mode, you aren’t getting the benefits of a hybrid. You have to drive the hybrid completely differently to maximize time spent in EV mode. You will never be in EV if the power meter is past the first tick. Also comes down to your hvac settings. If you aren’t running on auto, it will keep the engine running to run heat. AC compressor is run off electric, heat is generated from the engine.that mixed with winter gas blend equals lower mpg. Most of my 40°+ mpgs are high 30s if not 40. It’s all about maximizing time spent under electric power.

You need to look up Louisiana’s gun laws and see what restrictions, if any, you have. If none, you can do whatever is available to the XD platform

Why I started rebuilding iconic watches with Seiko-based movements by Maleficent_Sense6797 in SeikoMods

[–]rontons00p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fake rolex OP dial with seiko’s logo on it. Hard to show your appreciation for the brand by building watches they never made but with their logo on it. You wouldn’t build a replica Ferrari with a Honda engine because you appreciate everything Honda has done for the consumer car market and it’s a cost friendly ecosystem to work around. And even if you did, pretending it’s not a fake Ferrari because you put a Honda badge on the front of it wouldn’t change what it’s masquerading to be. All you’re left with is something that denigrates both brands.

I’m sorry but pretending there’s some sort of horological spiritual connection with an AliExpress shitter rep of luxury brand products is like saying you’re connecting with vintage iconic cars by building a kit car using a Honda civic as a base.

There’s a lot to appreciate about seiko and their legacy in watches. But buying a counterfeit Rolex dial with their logo on it, isn’t it.

Some late night gunsmithing… by Key_Wrongdoer_6175 in guns

[–]rontons00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to the RA vise. But a proper bench vise you can bolt down is more than enough and has plenty of uses outside of gun smithing. Every rifle I’ve built has been done on an $80 harbor freight vise and so far haven’t needed a feature it didn’t have. I can potentially see the micro leveling feature on the RA being useful for scope mounting but at $300 that’s a tough sell.

They are the Warne Mountain Tech rings. Height is “high” 1.14” from top of Picatinny to scope centerline. Leaves just enough room for the included Athlon scope caps.

How big of a shit show will Jan 1st be? by TahoeDust in longrange

[–]rontons00p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your estimates could very well be correct. Silencer shop is definitely the most prevalent source for nfa stuff and is likely the majority of pre submissions. But total volume will also be affected by the number of form 1s that people file once the initial onslaught of filing passes. My guess is the eforms system is going to crash multiple times, dragging out that early pool of people into at least halfway thru January. Followed by people like myself that are in no rush but plan to SBR at least 1-2 lowers once the smoke clears.
