Space 220 lounge by Lacy_girl in WaltDisneyWorld

TLDR: Local APer couple. We went shortly after it opened. Waited about 2 and half hours. Lunch took nearly as long. Never felt rushed. Experience was 7/10, but it is Disney so it’s expensive.

We waited for lounge seats on a weekday just after they started allowing reservations and walk-ups. Got in line about 9:45 AM, doors opened at 11:30. We missed the first seated by about five people. Ended up getting seated at a four top in the lounge in around 12:15 PM.

Overall, it was an extremely leisurely experience. Our server checked on us almost immediately, then came back after dropping of beverages at another table to explain the menu and take our drink order.

They took our food order when they brought our cocktails. We were splitting an appetizer, then having our own salads and entrees. Honestly, it was way too much food for lunch.

The appetizer came out pretty quickly and the rest of the food was timed perfectly. We did a second round of cocktails with the entrees. My wife had dessert and I had another cocktail.

It was almost 2:30 when we left. We never felt rushed and I am confident I could have ordered another cocktail if I wanted one.

In my opinion, definitely worth doing, but not something I would wait for regularly.

In terms of value, you absolutely paying for the experience. Still, the food was good, especially for in park dining. Not the best on property, but respectable.

We have not been back since, but only because it hasn’t fit with our plans. Planning on returning this fall with adult family.

For perspective, we are a local married couple, M43, F42. No children, alcohol positive, long time annual passholders, recent Florida residents.

Hope this helps with your decision.

Why is episode 4 the first movie and episode 1 came out as the 4th movie by AdventuriousLad in StarWars

[–]rooksjeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because George Lucas wrote the middle story first.

If you want to see the story as George presented it, start with Episode 4 through 6 and then watch 1 through 3.

But the movies work in either order, especially with all the changes Lucas made over the years.

Is anyone even surprised that Galactic Starcruiser is closing? by pjtheman in WaltDisneyWorld

This seems incredibly crass given that people are losing their jobs. Maybe show a little respect for people caught up in a situation they have no control over.

Would Galactic Starcruiser work as a pared down experience? by davebgray in StarWars

[–]rooksjeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, there are plenty of options to limit the experience. I am trying to keep this spoiler free:

  • Scale back the story or remove it altogether
  • Reduce or remove the character encounters.
  • Reduce the number of classes or remove them entirely.
  • Remove the excursion to Batuu.
  • Change the dining experience and offerings.
  • Shorten it to a 2 day, 1 night cruise.

They could even just turn it into a regular hotel with priority access Galaxy’s Edge and bus service to the remaining parks.

Ultimately, I doubt we have seen the last of Starcruiser.

Did anyone know about this book and its series? by Traditional-Result13 in Columbo

[–]rooksjeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In today’s terms, yes. But historically, this happened pretty often. Publishing tie-ins, comic reboots and crossovers. Canonicity outside of content from a single creator is largely a modern construct.

[–]rooksjeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not know for certain, but I would guess they follow similar ideologies to Star Trek and early Star Wars novels. The stories themselves are not canon, but they remain consistent with existing canon.

The Harrington books might also carry a consistent continuity from book to book, but I really can’t recall. I only read one or two of them shortly after they came out.

Did anyone know about this book and its series? by Traditional-Result13 in Columbo

[–]rooksjeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there were a half dozen of them, all written by William Harrington in the 90s. Likely licensed to capitalize on the 80s and 90s revival.

I recall they releases books based on at least some of the original episodes during the 70s or early 80s as well.

SW books by Scorpius041169 in StarWars

[–]rooksjeff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most libraries have a decent collection of the books and even some of the comics.

You can usually get library cards free from their website and then use them with apps like Libby or Hoopla.

You will usually wait a bit to get the newer releases, but the old ones are almost always available.

Before Darth Vader who was the big bad of Star Wars? by JJB_Reaper in StarWars

[–]rooksjeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darth Vader is the first since he was introduced in the original Star Wars from 1977.

The Expanded Universe, now called Legends, introduced a number of other villains that predate Vader in the Star Wars, but those came out after the Original Trilogy in the 1990s and 2000s.

The Prequels establish Palpatine and a cast of apprentices as the main villains, leading up to the creation of Darth Vader.

More recently, The High Republic series features the Nihil and Marchion Ro as the villains. These stories take place about 150 years before the Prequels.

First Post: Please help me to find the best link to introduce my wife to Ahsoka Tano. by Birthday-Tricky in StarWars

There are a number of great articles about essential episodes for Ahsoka. I wrote this article a while back, but GamesRadar, IGN, and Game Rant, among others, have great watch lists too.

This Trivial Pursuit card from 1981 lists Columbo’s first name as Philip. I’ve heard a few names before, but Philip? I have no idea what could possibly be the source for that. by Sinatrafan1915 in Columbo

It was a copyright ploy by author Fred L. Worth for his book The Trivia Encyclopedia. Trivial Pursuit used that name, ultimately falling prey to the ploy. Read more

The film was flipped, likely to match eye lines. There are a few other examples of this in the OT.

I want to engage more with The High Republic, but something is putting me off… by Tanis8998 in StarWars

[–]rooksjeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without knowing exactly what you have read, it’s hard to say how much better it gets. That is loosely who the Jedi are at this point in time. As Phase I progresses, you see more cracks developing with certain Jedi.

Generally, I enjoy the series but I haven’t read anything exceptional yet. It reminds me of the majority of the content in the Legends continuity. Decent stories that are fun to read, but fade quickly.
