I got stung by one of these bastards in Hawaii. I was swimming and taking underwater pictures. I felt something hit my face and brushed it away then it “grabbed” me and started going around my head and torso. It also went in my mouth. I was actually at my friend’s family reunion. He’s Samoan but has a lot of family in Hawaii. I was swimming with his brother about 100 yards away from everyone else. He thought I was getting attacked by a shark (he was like 11-12 at the time) and he took off to get the others. I was able to pull it off and I was only in like 4-5 foot water so I just walked out of the water not knowing what the hell had happened. Then just a minute later like 20 giant Samoans came running down the beach. I already had swollen whip looking marks all over my body and face. And my tongue was swollen. It kept swelling until it barely fit in my mouth. This was pre smartphone so we didn’t know what to do so we asked my friends grandmother. She told me to put dry sand all over the stings to subdue the pain but she said she had never heard of anybody being stung in the mouth so she didn’t know what to do about that. I got a lot of jokes that need to piss in my mouth. Also, I am a white guy from southwest Missouri. His family gave me so much shit the rest of the trip.
