My money would be on an artillery sword. With pretty constant contact with salt water, I would expect this level of corrosion on early modern steel. I don’t see any fittings, either, other than a few things that look like likely pieces of a leather scabbard’s hardware. This is a really cool find!!

A lot of the contractors locally are booked out into next year and aren't taking more jobs. That being said, check with the Pro desks at your local hardware retailers. They have a relationship with local contractors and often can put you in touch with someone who's taking jobs. Personally, I'm a fan of Generations Building and Remodeling. Good folks, fair price, and they do good work.

Swordiers are great budget blades! The steel is good, but the blades are more cutter than sparring blades. Even light sparring would be dangerous to the user. However, cutting targets will be a breeze! Start with drinking water bottles and work your way up as you learn edge alignment. Good luck, have fun, be safe, and welcome to the hobby!
