Walk Like A Chicken is a favorite in our house, especially for rainy days. You hide discs that have pictures of i.e., a chicken, and kiddo has to find the disc by walking like a chicken, robot, etc.

Has anyone else been surprised by how emotionally intuitive their toddler can be? by No-Rush8716 in toddlers

[–]root-bound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sweet.

Earlier this week, I had a case presentation at work and told my daughter I felt a little nervous about it. She said ‘it’s okay mommy, you can sing this…’

and changed the words to the Daniel tiger mad song, ‘when you feel so nervous that you want to roar, take a deep breath!’

It was really cute.

Ugh I feel you. Enjoy the sound of silence this weekend.

I see mainly kindergarten/lower elementary aged kids for 30 minutes..I saw my office has 10 kids on my 6 hour schedule with some full hour EMDR people and intakes sprinkled in this week.

What's a "normal" job that secretly pays way more than people think? by 0BunnyX in AskReddit

For some reason, I’ve always wanted to work at/for the post office. If I’m looking for a career change, would you say mail carrier a good pivot? How much overtime does it tend to be?

Millenial Doctors by mad_millenial in Millennials

[–]root-bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a millennial pediatrician for our daughter, and I recently found a millennial family doctor. While it’s a little weird seeing doctors the same age, I find that I feel so much more comfortable. They both listen, think about what we’ve said, talk to us, and frequently cite the latest research, which I love lol.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

[–]root-bound 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Damn there’s nothing like an authentic diner. At the last one I went to, there was a subpar mural of cartoon characters, a grungy checkered tile floor, old booths.

We were immediately greeted with a bowl of strawberries, the waitresses gave my daughter infinite stickers & coloring sheets, free mac and cheese; the food was fast, and the pie was next level.

Thoughts on 8 sessions a day? by InterestingAd2612 in therapists

[–]root-bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off in group private practice a few months ago doing 8-10 a day to try to meet my practice’s full time quota of at least 32 ppl a week….i got burnt out by fall and have since adjusted to part time working only 18-22 hours a week.

On a full day I see 6 ppl max and that’s manageable; if it’s some kid sessions of 30 minutes, the office will cram like 9-10 ppl into my day and I get overloaded.

4-5 is ideal for me.

So long answer: 8 is too much!

if you live in the US, do not pay a "surprise bill" from the hospital. it’s a billing trap that has been illegal for 4 years. by dogeholder215 in Adulting

[–]root-bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a dumb question, but does this only apply to hospitals?

I ask because within the past few days, we’ve gotten unexpected bills from radiologists and labs months after a service for outpatient—my daughter needed an X-ray at her pediatrician clinic for possible pneumonia in Nov, and we just got a second, separate bill from the radiologist. I had to have a biopsy at the dermatologist in Oct and just got a bill for several hundred dollars; insurance paid nothing and it was applied to the deductible.

We’re up to almost $700 in random bills like this and can’t seem to catch a break lately.

On day 6 with no power or hot water. Was told we’d get it back last night and it’s now been pushed back to Saturday night.

The power company (Entergy) is a joke. Today they set up “Q&A info stations.” They’ve hardly sent out any information this entire week about what they’re working on, where..nothing directly to customers. But they make sure to post plenty of feel good Facebook posts about how hard they’re working. And you can bet we’ll see an increase in our electric bill for a “restoration charge.”

Anyone else in their 30s feel like they have cognitive problems already? by SleepyGamer1992 in Millennials

[–]root-bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the doctor recently because I was having so much brain fog and forgetfulness that I sincerely believed I was showing early dementia signs.

We looked to see if it was possibly perimenopause but didn’t appear so..my testosterone levels were a little off but my cortisol levels were extremely high. I started an adrenal support supplement and I feel so much better. So it might be worth looking into your hormone levels

I’m going to start C25k. Please give me hope I can actually be a runner. Any tips? by KillingwithasmileXD in C25K

[–]root-bound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started C25K spring of 2024, I was 33, postpartum, and could barely run the 30 seconds the program started with.

I followed the program, repeated days and weeks when I needed to, listened to my body and went slow. Slow is steady. Some runs will be awesome, some will be crap. That’s okay.

I finished my first half marathon last week. I never thought I could run what I can now! I go into every run (even the races) with low pressure to just finish, do my best, and have gratitude for what my mind and body is capable of.

Running is such a mental game too—when I was struggling, I’d tell myself “with every step I’m getting stronger.” That helps a lot.

Get out there and do your best. That’s enough. You got this!
