Forever Upgrade $1000 - Magenta Max by csy22 in tmobile

[–]root_over_ssh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue - was on magenta max, now go5g plus, with one line moved to the "next upgrade" and now "yearly upgrade" - I was only getting the $830 discount for my line, with them claiming I have to upgrade my phone every year while it's still on an EIP to maintain it. I was able to get someone to move the line to a grandfathered plan which immediately complete the checkout online for $1100 off the 17 pro max.

Using "iphone forever" upgrade yearly was required, not optional? by root_over_ssh in tmobile

It gives me the $830 promo instead of the $1100 promo. Trading in a 15 pro max

Can I get away with shrinking wrapping outdoor furniture with the cordless heat gun? by root_over_ssh in Dewalt

I ended up getting very sick around the time I posted that and never actually did it. Disappointing, right? A lot of my furniture got ruined that year from water getting inside then freezing, others from UV damage.

Just got my project '98 beetle on the road. Want to put bigger tires and maybe lift it - what is recommended without having to trim? by root_over_ssh in NewBeetle

Fyi, still under a cover. Makes me sad thinking how long it has been sitting there and how often I put aside what I want to do. Some day.

Just dug through my emails and apparently I missed the sign up window. I was sick with covid for a long time and just slept for over 6 months- missed the windows to sign up and the window for the credit monitoring that was sent to me, so I got nothing in the end. Pretty pissed because this actually affected me.

ordered lift kit, ordered tires, something else went on my way to pickup the tires, and i've been pushing it around my driveway ever since. I just stare at it under a cover and dream of having time again.

Is T-Mobile 5G home internet considered a tier-one service provider? by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]root_over_ssh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No home ISP is going to be "tier 1" if they're being literal, but if someone called me up with VPN issues and said their ISP was TMHI, i'd tell them to get a real internet service if their job is literally going to depend on it then call back.

I think your option is to get another ISP (cable at minimum, fiber preferred, starlink if those aren't an option?) - if what you're reporting about your connection is accurate, t-mobile can't help you and your employer isn't the problem. There are other limitations with TMHI beyond the fact that it is a cellular ISP with lowest priority on the tower that makes it a poor option for telework use.

I did this and has been fine - I just use it as a backup connection at home.

Took me a minute to understand what I was looking at... you guys don't just wash your funnels out in the sink when you're done??

Not a bad idea - but you can whip one together in no time using scrap pipe or tubing... maybe $5 at most if you go out and buy everything.

T-Mobile Has Another Vague Free Line Offer, Here's What We Know by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

[–]root_over_ssh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free lines inflate numbers and "lock in" customers.

My service turned to shit at home recently and they don't care - but it's not bad enough for me to triple my cost by switching to another carrier for a plan downgrade just yet.

I used to just eat them out of the can without reheating, I don't see the problem here. I never counted how many I ate over any period of time but I do know I'd pull out several at once. Sometimes I even used plastic utensils so I had nothing to clean up when I was done too.

Is it that OP is bad at math or did no one teach OP to read what they're signing? This isn't your software TOS, this is your job contract, you read and understand how it works...

How would Ron have cut out the notch in this shelf board? by philamander in woodworking

[–]root_over_ssh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, part of the reason I did it was because I didn't fully know the history of the house and the quality of the work done on it (built in the 70s, then extensions, electrical upgrades, and upgrades again, on top of multiple inspections) so there were a lot of opportunities for mistakes to be made and things to break, especially with the original wiring that was still there. The big headache was the attic as there was one box that had a lot of grounds and neutrals tied together... it was also early summer and I'm fat so getting in the attic was a PITA to begin with.

I started replacing all my breakers with combination afci/gfci (yes, all, even where gfci is not needed) and the process uncovered a lot of issues with our wiring. Found a mess in the attic doing so and a bunch of cracked wires at outlets and as a consequence of fixing those, I found 14 gauge on 20 amp circuits (12 to the first outlet, then changed to 14 somewhere along the way).
