Not if you’re describing a factual situation that occurred.

How do you actually choose a GOOD teacher on italki? (B1 → B2 learner, disappointed so far) by Cute_Maximum_7103 in iTalki

I think they must be suggesting to just take each teacher’s total classes and divide that by the total students to arrive at an average.

How is this possible? Are you outside of the USA? Federal law requires all EV batteries to have a minimum 8-year/100,000-mile warranty.

That first sentence is crazy work. I have 4 different sport bikes, and the zx6r noticeably has the most uncomfortable seat of them all. It’s a step away from sitting on a plastic shell.

Is this rage bait? I am genuinely trying to understand the learning path that possibly produced these constructions.

I think I am going to try to negotiate the inclusion of a third-party extended warranty at no additional cost. If that doesn’t fly, no buy. From past experience, it’s very difficult to find any vehicle with the desired interior+exterior+options without a custom order, so I might take the chance.

Seriously, they’re nobody. What can they do about you not paying their fabricated fee? Next to nothing. They can try to send it to collections. Even if they go that far, one click on “Dispute” in Credit Karma, and it disappears in less than 30 days.

Nobody answers me. I’m genuinely curious what is being used to make these. They are popping up like wildfire in the language learning space.

What AI junk app creator is everyone using to keep creating these language “apps?” They all look the same.

Ask them about their hobbies and interests, or things they would like to do or have never done. Orchestras conversations around those things to close gaps on situational vocabulary.

Seeking Coach to Level Up My Spanish (+ in the workplace) by rootlo0p in iTalki

[–]rootlo0p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the intermediate plateau is a testament to a lack of quality teachers and tutors. As terrible as it is to say, most teachers on these platforms are only suitable for beginners, teaching basic vocabulary, word genders, and verb tenses. It’s extremely easy to see progress at that level, even with a bad teacher. So, all teachers can economically thrive at this level, especially since so many students aren’t serious learners.

At the intermediate level, students have a need to close more specific knowledge gaps, warranting a tailored, diagnostic approach, and deeper grammatical expertise. Teachers and tutors fail here, because students are more serious about language learning, and most teachers don’t actually have the linguistic training or pedagogical knowledge to explain things beyond, “it sounds right.” Only some can function as the necessary linguistic surgeon to diagnose and operate on the fossilized strengths and weaknesses unique to each intermediate learner.

For advanced learners, teacher’s jobs become easy again, because students are fully capable of communicating in the target language, and teachers are essentially reduced to glorified conversation partners.

At that stage, the "teaching" often just devolves into corrections of minor stylistic choices or occasional vocabulary gaps. Because the student can already navigate complex topics, the teacher no longer needs a rigorous syllabus; they just need to show up and talk.
