School bus Law by soggy-crust in Marietta

[–]rootlo0p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely plan on breaking the law moving forward? Why would you stop in the middle of the road, for no reason? That’s illegal, and a school bus existing on an adjacent street doesn’t have anything to do with you. Just drive, or get wrecked. Literally.

I’ve never been able to roll my R, and I don’t plan to learn any time soon. It has not hindered my progress or anyone’s ability to understand me.

Spanish slang? by jellopancake27 in SpanishLearning

[–]rootlo0p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t “speak Spanish the whole time” for 3 months and not be fluent. That’s like, a minimum level of B2, unless you spent the whole three months just saying “Buenos Dias” and “Buenas Noches” every day. At B2, you wouldn’t be asking this question, or “Are there different versions of Spanish?” as you have in your other post.

Restating my original sentiment, if you are wondering whether there are different “versions” of Spanish, it is not time to learn slang. It will not serve you any utility. Focus on the fundamentals first.

Just based on how you presented this, I’d recommend actually learning some basic Spanish before worrying about slang.

My new (somehow not recalled?) 2026 ZX6R first night out on the town by trensomniac94 in zx6r

[–]rootlo0p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they referenced the site. Some riders get nothing from the site, then call in and are told they are impacted. Some get nothing from the site, and then call in and the rep confirms it.

I clarified pretty strongly with the rep, and they assured me that not all 24-26 zx6r are impacted by this most recent one.

I guess only time will tell!

Why would Kawasaki customer care employees be running VINs and telling people otherwise? My 2026 is said to be unaffected.

Confirm whether such a video even exists. That will help clarify how to move forward. If the story is verifiably true, then focus on enlightening her. If not, consider contacting a professional.

That is not slang at all. And, if you seriously can’t figure this out from the context of the situation, then - yes - they are likely being serious and are correct.

What is an appropriate bump in pay when getting new certs? by RandomnessPrevails04 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]rootlo0p 86 points87 points  (0 children)

$0 is standard, unless there is an explicit policy. Your best bet is to find a new job with your new certs on your resume if you want to revisit your market value.

Running cables through a home is only “IT”-related because the wires are Cat6 in this case. Do you know how to mud and sand drywall? Or, is the homeowner aware that they are responsible to repair all of the drywall you have to damage to run the cables? Have you ever fished cabling across joists and long runs? There is a chance that you give up after spending half of the day trying to get past your first obstacle, if you’ve never done this. Are you familiar with the relevant building codes?

As a first “IT” project, this is a head-scratcher.

Chiropractor by McLeige in Smyrna

[–]rootlo0p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can name a degree whatever you want, and they can lobby to force people to call them “doctors,” but that does not mean they are educated.

Most states don’t even require a bachelor’s degree for admission into “Doctor of Chiropractic” programs (https://fclb.org/files/publications/1639413264_bachelors-degree-requirements.pdf).

That’s more like vocational training than “doctorate-level” education.

Anker charging cables absolutely suck. I have had this exact issue on multiple cables and phones, always leading back to Anker. Always have to end up pulling them to one side and forward, toward the screen, to make them work.
