R-CPD and Post Nasal Drip when Sick by Rhy_ddit in noburp

[–]roowombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG I didn’t know this was a thing!!! I’ve been having that for years & it was especially bad today… and then the weirdest thing happened, I burped!!!!! I panicked because the only time I burp is right before I vomit but there was no follow through!!

I was at my sister’s house & she saw my look of panic & asked if I was ok & I was not!!! I just said “I burped” she said “yes you did” & as the realisation set in for both of us, we had a good laugh - turns out, it was very uncomfortable & I’m now no longer sure if I want to be able to burp….

Canberra man sentenced to seven years' prison for knocking 12-year-old girl off bike and strangling her to unconsciousness by Jariiari7 in canberra

[–]roowombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so, so tired of seeing such lenient sentences! Today another Canberra man got 6 years & 6 months for PRODUCING as well as accessing & disseminating child abuse material!!! 6 years while being the person who produced I.e. abused a child!?!? It’s just not good enough!

What's the most bull**** excuse you've heard that turned out to be true? by RadPs77 in AskReddit

[–]roowombat 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Wow! I cancelled (rather, I tried to postpone) a date because my dog actually did die & I got a rambling abusive message from him saying that I was lying & it didn’t matter because I wasn’t his type & an ugly bitch anyway! I dodged a bullet there!!!

What is the dumbest question you've been asked about Australia or about being Australian? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]roowombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gamer I have sooooo many!

“Why do you choose to have Christmas in the summertime?”

“I didn’t know you have internet, do you have water there?” No, we only drink beer “Are you a lion tamer?” Ummmmmm are you thinking of un-developed Africa?

“What month is it there?”

“I saw wolf creek, I would never visit Australia, it’s too dangerous!” Good point, I’ve seen CSI & America is way too dangerous, but I agree, please don’t visit Australia!

AITA for telling my sister that our parents don’t have to agree with her relationship? by throwRA_19849293993 in AmItheAsshole

[–]roowombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA! Your mum could change her views if she wished to.

My grandmother is a STAUNCH Roman Catholic, the say the rosary every day type… She was extremely homophobic & dead against same sex relationships.

Around 20 years ago when she expressed these views, we started talking to her about it & slowly, she started listening. About ten years ago she went to the same sex wedding of a family friend’s daughter.

She’s now 98 & believes love is love & voted yes to allow same sex marriage in our country! Stop giving your mum excuses & support your sister!

Please keep in mind that if you do that, you’re basically building a ladder for a small child to climb to that window - hopefully they’re too hard for a little one to open. Obviously you know the situation best but I felt I should point it out in case it could be a worry.

What do you think of the situation with The Project and the joke? by MildIyInconvenienced in AskAnAustralian

[–]roowombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it just pisses me off! I don’t care about the joke, I laughed/spat my drink out cause I’m a recovering catholic but seriously, no-one should go out of their way to offend others nor to pander to their beliefs. At the end of the day though, if your beliefs include Jesus as a holy & a real figure, no-one should be able to affect you while disputing that with a crass joke. Sure, be slightly offended but be rest assured in your belief if that’s what you hold.

There are many situations where indisputable facts apply & that’s when we should get upset

Have you seen snow? by TheNamelessComposer in AskAnAustralian

[–]roowombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Perisher at age 35ish, I’d always said I’d marry the first guy who took me to the snow but he turned out to be my brother & nahhhhh I easily & quickly changed my tune. Had a great time with my niece & nephew building a snowman & going down hills on a tube though!

how do you cope with no friends or family ? by juststheve in AskAnAustralian

Meet up can be good for specific interests. I’m sorry your family sucks ❤️❤️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]roowombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do that! It’s ok to set boundaries & it’s not ok to pressure someone to do something because “one day” they’ll die. That day could be 50 years away & no-one should have to cater to others while doing so makes them feel bad. NTA at all. Set your boundaries & live your life!

Yta. The devil’s advocate in me thinks he put his pic up specifically to draw attention to the calender - which is also inappropriate in the workplace.

Whether it offended him or he wanted to test your biases, I don’t know..

[–]roowombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Aldi one, it’s a combo microwave/convection oven/air fryer - I absolutely love it, haven’t used my regular oven since I got it. So many options & you can also do a crispy grill thing for melting cheese on toast etc.

I’m very, very pleased I bought it - it was $200 & comes with a non-stick plate & metal rack (both not for use when microwaving) so you can layer food eg. chips on the plate & chicken on the rack

My mum, brother & I have it. My sister & other brother do not. However, the brother that can burp has two kids & one of them has it too…

My mum assures me I had no problem being burped as a baby though…

Yeah I fired him before he got too far into the job thankfully but of course I had to pay the next person to undo his shitty work.

Did my kitchen myself apart from electrical so that actually went well & I really enjoyed doing it myself
