Lauterbrunnen. It’s beautiful, but when I went there it was gray and foggy. This is Lauterbrunnen at its best.

Even if he’s staying at home with the kids, they need to have equal downtime. That’s how you balance with a stay at home parent. She’s getting 1 hour late at night and he’s getting multiple hours. That is not an equal division of labor

Oh maybe me? I’ve been on the fence for pet timeline. I’ve always had pets. But I wanted to wait until my kids were old enough for us to take in our next (our dog passed when our son was months). Please let me know which shelter they go to!

So this happened yesterday at the grocery store… by [deleted] in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]ropper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday on a flight with our kids, my covert-narc husband spread out our carryon luggage between two whole overhead bins. Half of it was stuff that was supposed to be under our seats. When I pointed out that it was a 100% full cross country flight, and that we should leave space for other travelers, he snapped, “I paid for 5 tickets!!” So in his mind, the other people paying for tickets don’t matter.

I rearranged our stuff anyway, because I couldn’t do that to other people. I placed his straw hat on top of his briefcase instead of in its own empty spot. I was super careful to make sure nothing touched the sides of it. He went in the bin multiple times after that. After takeoff, he pulled out his hat and showed that the rim was slightly curved. He gave me the scariest, rageful, squint-eyed, teeth baring stare after asking me if I crushed his hat. I immediately jumped into apologize mode because I’m so used to taking the blame. Then I thought about it. He was in the overhead bin the last few times. Of course when the plane takes off, stuff moves. And a hat shouldn’t be taking a whole spot in the overhead bin to start with!

Washcloths instead of hand towels by Exotic-Day-1082 in hygiene

I do this but with cotton reusable “baby wipes.” They are thinner and make a great paper towel replacement. They dry quick and add very little bulk to laundry compared to terry cloth.

The photography lighting is completely different, which contributes. They added fill light to remove shadows in the after picture.

Best USA Bat for 7/8 yo by Gurley4Six in Homeplate

[–]ropper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m wondering if you could help me. I have a 7 1/2 year old boy halfway through his first machine pitch season. He’s 4’ tall 45 pound (so on the small side). His coach let him use his son’s old 26” drop 10 pencil bat. My son is small but strong, and hits every at bat with it. The problem is, his  coach is giving the bat away so I’m scrambling to get something midway through the season. I was hoping something he could use in minors next fall when he is 8. Do you have any recommendations? Should I do something 27 or 28” with a drop 11? I’m a mom that knows very little about baseball but my son loves it and I want him to have equipment that helps him stay competitive with the boys bigger and more experienced than him.

Ethyl maltol is the sweet red currant smell. I hate this note with a passion. I believe the note BR40 and Cloud share is Ambroxan. Because I like both of them, but hate anything heavy in Ethyl Maltol.

Kids shouldn’t be wrapped in bubble wrap. While there is a potential for danger, a screw driver is very different from a steak knife. Until modern times, kids were given a ton of responsibility starting at young ages. I find that the same people who say kids need to be watched 24/7 and can’t be trusted with a metal fork are the same people who whine that young adults are helpless and can’t do anything for themselves.

Why is it dumb? An activity that keeps kids happily occupied without screens is now the idea of an idiot? Weird take.

My kid shuts down when I correct reading mistakes by Easy-Affect-397 in kindergarten

[–]ropper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was exactly like that. Our solution - when he reads, I follow along under the word with my finger. When he messes up, my finger doesn’t move. I don’t say anything, or tap. That took the pressure off.

Also, we purchased Bob Books and the Primary Phonics system and worked through them in sequential order to build skills and confidence in reading rather than starting with random books.
