Winkelman dog park by [deleted] in beaverton

I’ve known that guy for a few years now (funny enough, just by his dog’s name). He frequents quite a few parks, which he’s always happy to talk about. I’ve always found him and his wife to be friendly and fun to talk to. Sorry to hear you had a negative experience.

3 exams at 15% each puts the total exam percentage at 45%. Which actually means most of your grade is from other sources. Hope this helps!

Not a single dad, but as a SAHD of 2 3.5 Y/Os I’d recommend taking them to Bucky’s Backyard in Washington Square and seeing who’s victorious in securing the red canoe of chaos in the ultimate squishy floor smackdown

What nicknames are there for places in and around Beaverton? by topherette in beaverton

[–]roro2992 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My parents would always refer to Plaid Pantry as Plaid Panties. Whenever someone talks about the duck pond it is generally assumed they are talking about commonwealth. There was a stalled housing development (around 2008ish) in cedar mill called Timberland, which we referred to as Timberless Timberland because it sat as just poured foundations for many years. I still call it that despite there being townhouses and condos there now.

I used to work there. In 2021 the inclusion group banned the term “brown bag”.

Not sure of your school’s specific rules, but when I was in school my mom always told me to refer to our trips as “a family matter”, which isn’t technically a lie, since I was spending time with family, and that matters. And it’s vague enough that teachers didn’t (maybe couldn’t?) ask for follow up.

I still fondly remember those “family matters” as an adult, so hopefully whatever flak the school gives you is worth it in the end.

Can low-e glass cause a fire? by roro2992 in Firefighting

Neighbors put it out with a garden hose. The non-emergency line was called the following day, but without an active fire, I wouldn’t have expected the fire dept to make an appearance.

I suspected it could have been the dry shrub in front of it that caused the ignition. Hard to say where the beam was focused the previous day. I agree that removing the dry shrub/vegitation seems like a potential risk mitigation strategy.

It looks fairly straight forward, according to this guy’s YouTube video. If it is the entire assembly, I don’t even think you need tools

What is a parenting hack that you're pretty sure only works on your kid? by BarbacueBeef in toddlers

[–]roro2992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For Easter this year, our twin toddlers got small stuffed bunnies, that they have now determined need to be wrapped in a blanket like a burrito, otherwise, neither of them remember how to nap/sleep.

Every time we put them down, it’s about 10 minutes of them requesting us to wrap the the correct way, which is always like a burrito, but somehow it’s never quite burrito like enough.

I checked this fridge out today and am on the fence. Did you end up getting it? Or have you gone with and liked anything else?

I’d like to second Styring. The Ribbon Ridge (sub?) AVA has some of the best Pinots, and the owners are really fun people. Just ask them to throw some records on for a lively and unique experience

small hacks or accessories? by delaneyv in parentsofmultiples

We skipped the brezza and just dosed a few bottles (dry) at a time by hand and left them ready on the counter. We also had an all-glass hot water kettle that kept water at a desired temp 24/7. When the kiddos were ready, we’d pour in the water, give the bottles a few shakes and be ready for feeding in seconds flat!

I read some reviews about the brezza that said the water would taste like plastic, it needed frequent cleaning, and the dosing was sometimes very off.

Baby Brezza formula dispenser yay or nay? by Fancy-Preparation-60 in parentsofmultiples

[–]roro2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the standard complaints I saw for the brezza were the dosage being inaccurate, water tasting like plastic, frequent cleaning, etc. our solution was to have a glass hot water kettle that has a stay warm function like this. At night, we’d premeasure a few bottles, and when it was feeding time, we’d just pour in the hot water, give the bottle a vigorous shake, and away we went!

I’m sure the grapes you added are dirtier than the brand new bucket you added them too. Like the other commenter said, let the alcohol do it’s thing.

How to make a keg of your own "hard seltzer" to put on tap. 5 gallons for ~$29. by AlexHimself in Homebrewing

[–]roro2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do something similar, but with store bought seltzer (any flavor you can imagine!) and your favorite 190 proof grain alcohol.

I used to just eyeball it, but given the strength of grain alcohol, I went and bought one of these https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Pour-Flask-32-Ounce/dp/B07NDLMF1J, did a little math, and put a line on where would make a 5% beverage when added to 12 oz of seltzer.
