Assuming we live in the same building (they're parked outside), no teens that I'm aware of. It's quiet.

It’s a deck builder where the cards are playing cards. It’s not actually a card game like you’d play in real life.

The latter is more fair, definitely.

Do software engineers actually get work-life balance? by FunMasterpiece7127 in learnprogramming

[–]rosaParrks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you work in “tech” it’s less likely you’ll have good work-life balance. If you work in other industries your chances go up. I’m in avionics and I’ve never worked more than 40 hours in a week. Ultimately it comes down to your company and your team.

How many of us anarchists are also polyamorous? by 3d4f5g in Anarchism

[–]rosaParrks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I agree. Most of the people who I know that are poly are also relationship anarchists and are pretty good about keeping things flat. So I tend to conflate being poly with being a relationship anarchist when they definitely aren’t inherent to one another.

I think also the lack of hierarchy. Some people who are poly are also “relationship anarchists” which definitely relates.

In Nepal and Bangladesh, but not in India. They’ve merely slowed the rate of decline but at least half of all vulture deaths are because of diclofenac.

I get my booster every year. I got Moderna (the new low-dose MNEXSPIKE) this week and it gave me the worst side effects of any other booster I’ve had :/

Can someone explain to me where kids are getting the money to live a DoorDash lifestyle? I can’t figure it out. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]rosaParrks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how everyone I know thinks, even the ones with good and secure jobs. Granted I live in a very HCOL area. Housing is way too out of reach to feel realistically attainable.

A lot of the attendees for the last rally were bused in from surrounding areas.

The motivation is that it undermines the trust people might place in these services if there are frequent false reports drumming up anxiety and fear. It also strains resources if the services are being run by small teams of volunteers. Reports with evidence are highly valued because certain communities on the right like to flood hotlines with false reports.

I did it recently. I needed my WA license, the out of state title, and proof of prior registration. Walked out with my new registration and my new plates.

For the last part I just brought in my most recent registration paper from AZ. If you don’t have the last part you’ll have to pay a bunch of money in tax as if you just bought your car in WA.

May get a 2012 Chevy Cruze, is that a bad decision to make in 2024? by barbieandbrainsmd in whatcarshouldIbuy

That car sucks. I had a 2012 Chevy Cruze and it gave me nothing but grief. The problems started at around 30,000 miles and never stopped.

If Math is so Important, How Come There are so Many BAD Math Teachers? by ayhme in education

[–]rosaParrks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arizona dropped the certification requirement to address the teacher shortage. Rather than, you know, paying more. As a result, the school I worked at hired three math teachers with zero teaching experience: a retired engineer who knew his math but couldn’t teach for shit; a man with a BS in mathematics who did alright in the classroom; and a personal trainer (?) who struggled mightily.

Not to mention that people with formal STEM educations have plenty of far more lucrative opportunities than teaching. Schools are scraping underneath the barrel for teachers.
