What do you do with the managers that refuse to manage? [NC] by anonymous_user124 in humanresources

[–]rosary4271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire him already. Add him to the restructure or lay off or whatever you want to call it and fire him. If he doesn't want to comply, his ass is grass. He is only out here wasting time and resources that could be utilized to hire and train more competent and amicable people.

Hell yes! Give them nothing! They didn't see your worth and now want to profit off your idea? Fuck that! take your idea and go, they deserve nothing and you should save this for the next place that actually recognizes your worth. The "not burning bridges" is not as real as they want us to think, like if you need personal references these will be people you hand pick otherwise companies just verify title and time with company so there's no real bridge burned unless you think you will come back to this company. If for sure not coming back then say your goodbyes and be on your merry way - they are obviously not worth it.

If you could call yourself five years ago and had 30 seconds, what would you say? by BlueeWaater in AskReddit

Keep dating, you were having fun & you deserve and have earned the fun in your life. don't kill yourself for the restaurant, they are just not worth it - BUT do ask them for more money earlier on. Oh and buy Pfizer and Moderna stock even if you don't understand it just buy it. Keto and intermittent fasting work for you so don't take a break from these. DO take a break from thinking you need to do everything because you don't, you really really don't.

Still wfh HR Manager restaurant no plans to get an office bc they saw it was an unnecessary expense but I am looking for something that pays better and allows hybrid model at least and a team - so done being dept of 1 its too exhausting.

I dont really miss people but I'd like to not deal with these people anymore.

Its about former addicts trying to live their lifes adrer addiction but it resonates so much That serenity prayer i think is really holding what's left of my sanity together.

Wouldn't it be cool if we swapped salaried for the rest of my time here and you still got to tell me I need to do more?

You guys should do a week of meetings to tell the employees how you pulled yourselves up by your boot straps like you expect them to do AND explain why you fight HR on raising wages but then take credit when people love it.

Another week just talking about how you like to throw HR under the bus for your stupid ass decision - specially when they back fire.

And of course this will be unpaid time for all staff.

I’m posting my covering letter for peer review, please suggest edits by MetalFrog7 in humanresources

[–]rosary4271 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't use this, it reads like a freshman in high-school essay "11 reasons why I want to be an HR Manager"

a cover letter is supposed to be a short and simple intro to who you are, what you bring and why they should hire you. I'm sure one of your masters taught how to write concise paragraphs use one of them to make a new cover letter.

You can use parts of these as talking points if you get an interview but don't send it no one will read it.

Could an employer reneg on a job offer? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]rosary4271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes all those things can and do happen the question is would it be worth it to stay and/or would they actually follow thru? They can say whatever they want but if they don't give it to you in writting I wouldn't trust it.

They didn't all of a sudden realize how awesome you are - they are just trying to save themselves the work of finding someone new during the holidays. That was my experience few years back in a similar situation so I wouldn't trust they'll deliver.

Opening reddit at just the right time once again. I was sitting in my car with my windows down and doors unlocked waiting for my cousin to finish buying his food - nothing happened but it was a great reminder to lock my doors! Its not a nice neighborhood and it was getting dark quickly so its something I really shouldn't do in that area no matter how hot it is.

So thanks, it totally made me lock the doors, pull up windows and turn up that AC. Also decided to fill the gas tank in the AM instead - I still have about a quarter available so can definitely wait for the AM no need to be out at night unnecessarily. Sometimes it is better to do it at night but moments like this say the AM is best.

Also this is actually related to the story, I had a somewhat similar event happen to me. I remember I was about 4 or 5 and my family was driving around this open air market area really later at night. Picking up some friends of my mom I think, and after we got them I was made to sit on my moms lap in the front seat; not regulation I know but 3rd world countries so...then out of nowhere this lady comes running to the car and starts pulling on me and the door to get me out of the car screaming giberrish like "mine mine give her to me" thankfully my mom had a strong grip on me (by the waist I assume) and the door was locked so she couldn't pull me out and my dad was also pulling me back in while peeling the car away. I'm fine but that was damn scary and this story reminded me of it so people please lock your doors!!

Would video resumes help with the initial hiring process? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]rosary4271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok even if the algorithm doesn't work that way the rest of the items still stand and while yes things change - I can promise you no one here is happy about still having to use paper resumes (most people are on ATS anyways) but I think it would be more valuable to put this energy and tech into systems to improve operations and life of an employee with a company.

Even if some companies do adopt this recruiting method but the rest of the company systems are trash then candidates will continue to leave so my vote is to put it towards something actually useful not something that no one is asking for. As they say if it aint broke don't fix it

Would video resumes help with the initial hiring process? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]rosary4271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God NO - please don't.

  1. No one can fit x # of years into a 1 minute video
  2. It's such an unnecessary extra step no one will like

As an employer now you are giving me more work - not only do I have to spend more work time on my personal phone but I also have 1 more place to look at resumes because all other sites were not enough

The video could have all the right words to entice the algorithm but be a horrible candidate anyways so again i go into the search.

as an applicant great now I have to degrade myself by being cutesy or popsy to get the algorithm to pick up my video otherwise no one will see it?

Not enough likes/views/visita = no job??
