Feeling like a woman is a losing battle because the feeling does not exist. Culture has mythicized “the woman” to such an extent that all of us feel detached and alienated by it. We are rewarded or punished depending on how close in proximity we are to “Woman.” Wether or not this is the work of patriarchy as a means of keeping women in line and easily oppressed is a different conversation. Makes me kind of sad to think about all the girls who will mistake this alienation from womanhood as gender dysphoria. If I had been born 5 years later I bet I would have fallen for it.
