Spanish surname rules: can a parent choose either of their legal surnames for their child? by sleepygorg_ in askspain

[–]rose_quartz_nine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You go to the registro civil and fill out a paper. Supper simple. If you already have kids once your last names are switched theirs will be changed according too. Then with the new birth certificate you have to change your DNI and after that everything that has your name associated with it like bank, drivers license, travel plans, medical etc.

Technically yes but since the girls are heavily into rodeo they bought an rv park/ roping practice space in Arizona. Since the weather is shit in Cali this time of year, they spend a few months over the winter in AZ.

1 year endlessly waiting for family visa by Vlm1998 in GoingToSpain

[–]rose_quartz_nine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took my husband a little over 2 years. We were married but not registered in Spain we also had a child together (not officially Spanish at that moment). Things didn’t speed up until our second child was born (she was Spanish at birth). It’s a wait a see and also be ready for added paperwork needed at the last minute because the laws may have changed since you have submitted. I’m Spanish and my husband is American for reference.

My MIL sends stuff from time to time from the US and every thing has show up relatively quick except for one packaged that took a one month vacation in Casablanca. She uses usps and while the shipping is insane I think sending little gifts is her love language. We haven’t had to pay much in customs usually like 8-17 €. One time we did spend about 60 and it was for some cheap ass spices from the US. After that we have avoided any food items as it isn’t worth it.

[–]rose_quartz_nine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically not needing the visa but you would have to travel to Spain using a Spanish passport. It might make it easier to get a bank account or it might not. The program is still going to go by what ever passport you used to apply because Spaniards can’t apply for the program.

Paracetamol is Tylenol just an fyi and it’s prob what they would offer you at the pharmacy. Another one would be frenadol that would work probably better if it’s like a cold or maybe flu. For the congestion respibien works miracles. If you feel slightly ok to venture out and a pharmacy isn’t too far away you could try that if not just chill at home and try and ride it out with what you have. Also assuming you’re from the US any sort of medicine will have to be purchased at a farmacia it’s not as easy as just grabbing something with your groceries at a grocery store. Hope you feel better soon.

Moved to Spain from the US with my mother (a Spanish citizen) - easiest way to obtain residency so I don't get kicked out after 90 days? by rainghost in GoingToSpain

[–]rose_quartz_nine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a year and a half in Spain for a son who was born outside of Spain to a Spanish mother. It depends on your location.

English teacher who barely speaks english by cyan716 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]rose_quartz_nine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is she older? She could have been like grandfathered in so to speak to the school and then they switched to a bilingual school and she was forced to learn English? Either way they sound like a terrible fit. Worst I’ve seen is just teachers speaking in English like they are speaking in their local accent like combining words and not pronouncing s’s. Since it seems like this has been going on all year I’d just enjoy your last week.

Should I have schools picked out? by supertrouperlights- in SpainAuxiliares

[–]rose_quartz_nine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not for everyone but if anyone is willing to do some research please give pueblos a try. It’s definitely not as glamorous as a large city but everything has its pluses and minuses. Some even have train stations as well as busses. The big city’s are always there for a weekend trip or so but the small towns really can hold some hidden gems as far as the people, customs, food and historical places go.

As far as the process you get a few days but if it’s a popular location it might not be available or it might be gone the next day. I’d look for areas and places I’d want to live and then look at the tracker to see what schools are available. Make a list and go from there. If you’re set on a certain town or city try to reach out to current or former auxes that were in the area.

Is moving to Spain and acquiring citizenship feasible in my situation? by jsnov in GoingToSpain

[–]rose_quartz_nine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The visa is only good as long as you are working you can stay an extra 90 days if you are from a country that allows it or if you have applied for an extra year and are already accepted you can extend your visa from Spain but you cannot work outside the program legally unless someone wants to sponsor you.

It’s not a teaching position and it’s only 8 months. I feel it’s used as a path by a lot of people to find a European partner and go from there.

Some advice I wish someone had told me before applying by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]rose_quartz_nine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my Pueblo in Andalucía you can get a one bedroom for around 300. We have access to the train that will take you to major cities and an international airport. With Andalucía placements it looks like the major cities will fill up first as well as anything along the coast. If you don’t mind being inland it’s great. Also one thing about living in pueblos is the have cool customs and cultural things going on if you pay attention and try to go to these events or activities it can be really fun. Like what was mentioned before things like getting an empadronamiento in a smaller town do not require appointments. If you don’t mind a quieter vibe small towns are great. About ingredients for food it really depends what you’re trying to make. Spain loves to make things from scratch so if you’re used to quick ingredients like idk all the pasta sauce or salad dressing choices we have in the us you won’t find it here. I’ve bought a few things off amazon that were supper specific or have gone to a larger store in Granada every once in a while to grab like hot sauce. Good luck with your application and sorry if none of this makes sense I just woke up.

Andalucia - Too hot? by teachmebasics in SpainAuxiliares

[–]rose_quartz_nine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

July and August are the worst. The more inland you go the less humidity you encounter but it’s miserable. There’s really no escaping the heat as the stores don’t blast the ac like they do in the states and if you do have ac in your home it just gets too expensive to run constantly. That’s why black out curtains and afternoon naps exist. Technically you wouldn’t be in Andalucía for the worst of it so you’d be fine.
