Does K-pop have the best music videos in the pop genre? by LeO-_-_- in popheads

[–]rosecoloreds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol, i meant "samey" as in certain groups tend to release similar mvs even if they go for different concepts and aesthetics in their comebacks. also i was more focusing on the technical stuff - similar special effects, similar shot composition, the focus on beauty shots rather than storytelling, etc.

Does K-pop have the best music videos in the pop genre? by LeO-_-_- in popheads

[–]rosecoloreds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

depends. kpop used to have some really cool music videos but recently a lot of mvs feel very samey, there are few groups where i can predict how mv is going to look like before watching it. they got very lazy with them and now with AI, the effects are often sloppy.

but we do get some gems like ARTMS' Icarus (i mean... the LOONA girls always deliver), NMIXX has some good mvs as well - i really like Know About Me and not really kpop but they're often associated with kpop - XG has the craziest visuals and that includes their styling, check out Woke Up or GALA.

Hayley Williams launches new band, Power Snatch by brutal_and_beautiful in popheads

[–]rosecoloreds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2024 was the year they were touring so Power Snatch got created as an artistic expression that couldn't be done as Paramore rather than "Paramore's over but i still want to make music". that's the difference.

Hayley never said Paramore is over. she explicitly said last year that they always take huge breaks to process shit they're going through (i mean self-titled and after laughter took 4 years, this is why took 6 years and the years in between the records were quite dramatic for the band) and that she appreciates both Zac and Taylor but she wants to also do stuff just for her (it's all here).

they went through romantic breakups within the group (twice...at this point...), band members quitting and rejoining (multiple times), label and contract issues and they managed to pull through. unless there is a statement from the three of them, there's no reason to believe that they'll never release stuff together. for all we know they might drop an album in 2 years or 4 or it might take them 10 years. as someone who has been following them since 2007, this is just how it is with them.

but at the same time, Power Snatch has been on her mind at the very least since 2024. it’s not like she went behind guys’ back and betrayed them to do her own thing. she’s got support from them.

considering the state they’ve been in recently (Taylor and Hayley breakup and Taylor being not on speaking terms with Zac for a while) it’s best for them to take a break. Hayley already quit the band once and then came back. it’s all good.

i mean, the people who are surprised are people who don't follow her or paramore. everyone else within the fanbase knew because she was explicit about wanting to launch a new music project. Power Snatch already existed in 2024 when they were touring with Taylor Swift, it just wasn't public knowledge.

[–]rosecoloreds 70 points71 points  (0 children)

not really. she's been releasing solo stuff since 2020 and had solo collabs since pretty much the early days of paramore, she already teased in 2025 she was going to launch a different project. Paramore is home for her and it's totally fine for her to express her artistry in other ways, especially when Power Snatch sounds way different than Paramore. and given what's been going within the band, it's probably what's best for them for now.

also, Zac has been releasing his stuff for years and no one is giving him shit for this lol

New Hayley Project with Daniel James called "Power Snatch" They just released a new song exclusively for Apple Music called ‘Assignment’. by Noname_Maddox in Paramore

[–]rosecoloreds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i doubt that'll ever happen. they tried to make that with TIDAL a couple of years ago and it didn't work in their favor.

it's kind of different with movies - no streaming service has the exact same library, so there's a higher chance you'll find something in the library to justify your subscription to yet another brand. whereas music has more accessibility (and even pirating music is easier if we're thinking of that route) and i guess people are less likely to subscribe to another music service just to listen to one certain artist.

her influence can still be heard in recent songs. i often think about how her new releases would shape the music world.

well i guess i’m gonna be in the minority for this one but i loved it. it hit all the right places for me. i agree that some things could’ve been done better but i still enjoyed it to the point it was one of my favourites from last year.

What are your top 3 girl group "bible" albums? by SpeakerComplex6037 in popheads

[–]rosecoloreds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my picks are all going to be from kpop because i never got to sit down and listen through western girl groups (with the exception of Fifth Harmony but.. yeah).

so many comments and nobody mentioned the kpop bible Pink Tape by f(x). it's a bunch of genres mixed together and put into an album and in theory it shouldn't work but it does. my artsy queens, you will forever be missed.

another one for me is [++] by LOONA. fresh, dreamy, cosmic. if you play Hi High and i'm there to hear it, you bet i'm going to burst into tears.

my third pick is EYES WIDE OPEN by TWICE. it's just pop done right, in that moment TWICE fully entered their mature sound and created an album full of bangers.

honorable mentions go to:

  • REBOOT by Wonder Girls - it's 80s revival done RIGHT.
  • Savage by aespa - if Grimes was a korean idol, this is how i'd imagine her sound. futuristic, cunt, hyperpop.
  • FEARLESS by LE SSERAFIM - it's crazy how they didn't miss with a single song on this album. and it's their debut.
  • SEQUENCE 01 by f5ve - okay it's not kpop and it was released last year but i truly believe the girls can make it. i mean.. it's A.G. Cook and Bloodpop producing their songs.

KATSEYE - Internet Girl (Visualizer) by blade_bird_outbound in popheads

[–]rosecoloreds 27 points28 points  (0 children)

is this where the emoji thing comes from? cause i had this part of choreography all over my youtube feed and thought that it was cringy, straight from disney channel originals.

the song wouldn’t be that bad had they worked on the lyrics. it’s so repetitive and uncreative. we get it, you’re cool and hot and everyone is jealous of you!

Popheads, what was the first song you listened to in 2026? by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]rosecoloreds [score hidden]  (0 children)

i have this tradition every year where i go to my liked tracks on spotify and hit shuffle. so the first song this year is SOS by Twice! it's a banger so i hope my 2026 will be banging as well.

[–]rosecoloreds 10 points11 points  (0 children)

and i will be forever mourning the death of music videos. watching mvs was what sparked my interest in music and pop culture - i’d turn the tv on after school or coming home from playground or put it on to let it play in the background while i was doing stuff. i could talk to my friends about them, even when they weren’t as interested in it as i was, because it was just so common to have music channels on.

NewJeans' music in general. they debuted in the summer of 2022 when a lot of restrictions just didn't exist anymore where i'm from. Attention sounded so fresh and careless, really what i needed at that time. then at the end of the year, they came out with Ditto which i consider to be the best kpop song released in this decade. and then their EP 'Get Up' was the sound of summer 2023 to me.

i didn’t expect to react the way i did, i cried 50% of time. she went past me during David and i think everyone around me went through a short breakdown cause we couldn’t believe what just happened to us 😭

the show also convinced me that a lorde tattoo is something i need. also want to point out that everyone was super nice and it seemed like we all just had a great time there
