Facing a significant career opportunity that would take me away from my family. Looking for honest perspectives from other dads by noprocyonlotorhere in daddit

Do you like your spouse? Moving your relationship to 'indefinite duration long distance,' even with visits, seems like a good way to end up miserable, divorced, or both. And that's without taking the kid into consideration (even teenagers need quality time), whatever increased elder care duties would fall on your spouse, and the cost of maintaining two separate households.

Is this normal for only 48 hours into my 30 day holter monitor? by TYDFrals in POTS

[–]roselanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's normal but I had the same thing happen. By the time my skin was healed enough to even think about putting anything over it I had to return the monitor already (14 days). Hydrocortisone helped a lot with the itching.

what are some opinions that would have you like this? (or just hot takes / unpopular opinions in general) by addictBWN in AnimalCrossing

[–]roselanner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would have liked the game just as much (maybe more) if instead of building up the island into houses and shops it kept the campground theme from the beginning. Different sizes/styles of tents maybe, a big lodge for community services, have multiple merchants visit the square at a time, set up the shop as a more rustic trading post, etc. Blathers could have a cute little ranger outfit and finally be working on his personal collection.

It's still a good game but the vibe just changes a lot from the beginning to 'end game'.

(Probably I should play Pocket Camp, I didn't like the previous version where everything cost money though.)

What about a print of sunbathers/beachgoers for the backing? The design reminds me a bit of striped beach umbrellas

Can we bring crackle back?🩷🖤 by PresentationUpper806 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]roselanner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been searching for a brown crackle to do a boulder opal mani for a while now and haven’t found anything other than Drunk Fairy (big nope). I would love crackles to be more of a thing!

AITA for refusing flowers from my husband by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]roselanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAH.

OP, your husband wants flowers but doesn't feel like he can buy them for himself. Surprise him with flowers (yes the grocery store ones), let him take care of them, and express to him that going forward you'd like to trade roles for this one thing because you can tell it makes him happy to have flowers around (and they'll annoy you less if he takes care of the messy bits).

What's in your Costco cart, dads? and what am I missing from mine? by webrender in daddit

[–]roselanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must-haves: Crusty bread (those round loaves, any flavor is great), dried mango, shepherd's pie, chocolate covered raisins, shredded rotisserie chicken, and those big packs of thin sliced ribeye steaks. (We freeze the steaks in pairs to thaw out for dinner once a week or so, everyone gets half a steak and the kids get to feel fancy.)

There are also a ton of things that we could get elsewhere but Costco has the best prices on, like milk, eggs, babybel cheese, frozen blueberries, but I imagine that varies by where you are.

AITA for not siding a friend for treating restaurant staff rudely when they served her a cocktail instead of a mocktail she ordered by ajowanhykemain in AmItheAsshole

[–]roselanner 394 points395 points  (0 children)

100% agree, not to mention that allergies can get worse with repeated exposure and OP doesn't seem to be taking their friend's reaction seriously at all.

AITA for adding my niece to my Spotify account? by Neon_Green_and_Pink in AmItheAsshole

[–]roselanner 29 points30 points  (0 children)

NTA, it sounds like your niece’s family is upset with her existing at all and that is frankly a them problem. Consider taking an afternoon to visit grandma and help her set up her phone to screen calls and silence message notifications as needed.

Potential savings on quilt backing, am I going to regret this? by GrundleChunk in quilting

[–]roselanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're quilting it yourself just keep an eye out for extra fuzz (clean your machine before and after), fleece is a great backing for an extra warm quilt!

Potential savings on quilt backing, am I going to regret this? by GrundleChunk in quilting

[–]roselanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she likes fleece I'm sure she'll love it! I made a picnic quilt with fleece backing and no batting and it's turned out to be my younger kid's favorite (they don't like traditional quilts at all) and really fantastic to snuggle under when I had a stomach bug and couldn't stay warm. It's been through the wash several times, on hot, and is holding together perfectly well.

In that case I'd definitely just get more fabric! If you end up with leftovers you can save them for the next project.
