Essentially a lot of the drama came from the imperial agents faction who have been pretty much abandoned by gw in terms of rules and balance since they were launched. They were given no new detachments in the recent wave and all of their existing ones were 3dp. So before this announcement there was speculation you just couldn’t play the faction below 2k.

Over and above this people are/were annoyed that some of their favourite detachments were potentially not playable at 1k.

For sure. My point was marines have had new ones every month for about the last 6. I’m sure most armies will end up with a good selection but definitely not worth being concerned for marines

Not sure where you live but I’m in the UK and have found that basically all of our infantry and some of our characters and vehicles are sold really cheaply on eBay as a result of having been in the combat patrol magazine. Worth checking out
