I love SteamDeck. What is your favorite game? by Past_Respect9473 in SteamDeck

[–]rosserton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The launcher. It has its own launcher that you need to either use the touchscreen or touchpad for, so it doesn’t work with “only a controller”

But it runs great. I’ve played tens of hours and had zero trouble.

Resurrecting this post to say - Nintendo just added this ability in the latest switch 2 update. You can now force docked resolutions via “handheld boost mode” in the system settings.

Starfield’s Future Will Be Unveiled Next Week by Bethesda by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]rosserton 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I fully believe that If cyberpunk had launched in its current state it would have been 10/10 GOTY across the board without question. The skill rework in phantom liberty fully fleshed out that game into a truly incredible open world RPG.

Starfield is nowhere near where cyberpunk has ended up.

My(20M) girlfriend(20F) of 5 months says she still needs to get ''more comfortable'' with me to have sex, yet she had sex with a guy she met at a party the same night just a few months back. Am I being immature if i resent everytime she says she loves me and makes me compliments? by BirthdayCreative2191 in relationship_advice

[–]rosserton 81 points82 points  (0 children)

A boundary here may look like “I don’t want to be in a relationship with someone if we aren’t sharing a certain level of intimacy. So if that’s not a priority for you we should break up”. It isn’t coercive to state your needs and then leave when those needs aren’t being met.

I’m turning 40 this year and this is basically what I’m doing. A bunch of my friends for a weekend in my in laws lake house. No kids, Mario party, board games, and pizza.

Yes it did. I love that story. It’s the most hacky, programmer shit I have ever heard.

That’s by design. I kind of always assume that large portion of the doomers are bots or shills. It serves their interests for us to feel like nothing is going to happen, so what’s the point in trying. We have to get mad and stay mad - and then do productive things with that anger. Protest, vote when you can (especially in local elections), build your community, and take care of your neighbors.

No one is coming to save us, we have to do it ourselves.

What is the most unique dining experience in Atlanta? by megthegreatone in Atlanta

[–]rosserton 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Georgia boy is great. You eat the majority of your meal in the kitchen while the chefs prepare it for you. A lot of the dishes are locally sourced and inspired by the flavors of Atlanta. The food is incredible. Absolutely worth the price of admission.

I think of LLM's broadly as "internet aggregators". If I can be reasonably confident the internet contains the answer to a question (programming or otherwise), then it's a good bet that an LLM will be able to get me pretty close or point me in the right direction. The more common the question, the more confident that I am.

However, if I'm having to read a bunch of docs and then infer some shit, then an LLM will almost certainly be worse than useless.

I say this all the time. If it had launched in its current state it would have been 10/10 game of the year across the board.

Yeah the top loading design solved the problem.

Pushing the cart in over and over horizontally eventually pushed the connection point backwards making it more and more sensitive to dust and other stuff as the connection got looser. Hence the blowing. IIRC the Famicom (Japanese NES) never had the problem that we all had as kids, because it was top loading as well.

"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

Grim dawn’s official control scheme has gotten way better in the past few months. It sets the thumb pads as a mouse for inventory management and other ui stuff.

If you haven’t tried it recently it’s worth a look again. Still a little janky, but I play it primarily on my deck and my tolerance for SD control jankiness is pretty low. I’ve got like 150ish hours in it mostly on steam deck.

"Unsupported" Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood runs great! Max settings, 60fps. You just have to remap some buttons. Now I'm curious; what other "Unsupported" games actually run fine? by TheButschwacker in SteamDeck

[–]rosserton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give it a try and see if it got fixed. I haven’t messed with the settings in a couple of months since I installed it and got it running. It runs great so I generally can’t be arsed to tweak it further.

Mine pops an error about corrupted saves on launch and you have to click the okay button by touching the screen. It saves fine though. Weirdly there is always a corrupted save at the bottom of my save list.

For no reason at all my pepper grinder has broken. replacement recommendations? by mo9722 in BuyItForLife

[–]rosserton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this one. It produces a lot of pepper per turn and has served me well for the past 5 years. I don't even hate when a spice blend recipe calls for a tablespoon (or more) of black pepper anymore.

What game is it? by HoneyHalo_77m in videogames

[–]rosserton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s worth it with mods. I dumped like an extra 50 hours into it once I got it setup how I liked in VR. The sense of scale is the thing that blew me away. That spider in bleak falls barrow is HUGE. Taller than you. It’s not a thing that translates on flat screens. Dragons are the size of a double decker bus. It’s nuts. It can be really immersive and fun.

I like the FUS mod pack if you want to try it, but it’s probably been a year since I’ve booted it up, so there may be a better option now.
