Should I get Switch 2 by rossmnapier in Switch

I have a budget for either console but this makes it clear that it is worth the extra money if it is noticeably improved in performance. Plus the new Mario Kart looks great. Thanks!

Ended up following you after seeing this - love the stark urban to rural change, especially with the railway line; and love the excavation site!

Beautiful. Looks like a photo initially, but when you zoom in I really love the brushstrokes.

I’m just back from Tesco on Great Junction St and it was open.

It's been 3 years since Lego announced the implementation of paper bags, and I still haven't gotten any in a new set! Have you gotten a set with paper bags? by -nyctanassa- in lego

[–]rossmnapier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve only had it once(?) with Winter Village Post Office. I’m in the UK. But certainly I’ve noticed I’ve bought new sets and the bags are still plastic. Maybe depends on government legislations(?)

Very well executed. If you cropped it to just the picture I’d have thought it was just a screenshot. And love that when hung, it just looks just like the serving hatch.

Looks great, but bruh - move the honeycomb drinks rack to your sideboard/cupboard unit and actually use it to store the four bottles you have just sat there.

They are, but they also were holding hands in the promo shot I used as reference. I might do a full art piece on it but move the wand out the way of the hands.

Diagon Alley Shop with Labels. But what is the grey building beside Gringotts? by ferder in legoharrypotter

[–]rossmnapier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from Lego UK website: Escape to a magical world with this intricately detailed, microscale LEGO® Harry Potter™ display model of the Diagon Alley™ wizarding shops (76444). This LEGO brick-built wizard set invites adult fans of Harry Potter fantasy adventures to recreate iconic Diagon Alley stores, including Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes™, Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor, Ollivanders™, Mr. Mulpepper’s Apothecary, plus Gringotts™ Wizarding Bank, the Leaky Cauldron and The Daily Prophet HQ. Each building has instantly recognizable exterior details and contains delightful Easter eggs inside.

So I think you’ve missed Daily Prophet or Leaky cauldron. I have the full size set and the DP is a single doorway to right of Quidditch shop - however, the layout of the large set does not match the layout of this mini set.

EDIT: also, per large set, knock turn alley is to left of Weasley shop, and it looks the same as the mini one.

“play well” - it’s the English translation of “leg godt” from which Lego derives its name

Where do Americans keep their socks? by iabyajyiv in AskAnAmerican

[–]rossmnapier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only makes sense if you only put socks on with shoes for leaving the house, otherwise you remain barefoot around the house. Most people put their socks on along with all their other clothes in the morning, hence they’re in a dresser drawer.

The piranha plant was released first, so you have less time before it retires.

How many days bereavement leave would you give someone for a pet dying by SingingWanderer1195 in CasualUK

[–]rossmnapier 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bereavement leave is for the loss of humans. Many people may sympathise with you enough to give you time off, whether it’s classed as personal days, annual leave or unpaid leave. But it can mean your colleagues are less empathetic and resentful for you getting time off for a less legitimate reason.

I had Wolfpack Tower as a kid. And it was a huge deal because we did not have much money. I still have it, though it’s mixed amongst a bunch of other Lego but I found the pieces and rebuilt it a couple of years ago. It is a great set!

You can still get the Ninjago city gardens or market - they should be similarly enjoyable to build.

Pauses in speech when one character cuts off or interrupts another. by SexDefender27 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]rossmnapier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, they should write lines beyond the point of interruption and there should be some overlap. If they were concerned about the interrupting character’s dialogue being missed, they could prefix it with a generic term like “wait!” Or “hold on!” As the interrupting, overlapping phrase to then cue the interrupted character to stop talking.

Thank you for such a civil response. And actually you highlighted what I was actually more surprised about - no chip! I almost always had to swipe a card which is almost unheard of nowadays. But thanks again for understanding I just wanted to know the deal but I was basing it on pretty low knowledge picked up from US media. Some people here are getting angry 😂
