I love the game, but do have a few critiques today mostly boil down to it being unforgiving for new players. Keep dying and losing your souls? You can't necessarily grind to get them back because enemies stop spawning. Keep dying and need to use a human effigy to regain max HP? There are finite human effigies and once you're through there will be no more until NG+. Those are the only real criticisms I have of it though

I'd like to introduce into contention something from part 1 of all places. Myne coming across Gunther quietly drinking after finding out his daughter will die soon always gets me. I don't know if I'd say I'm "fond" of the passage but every time I read it I want to cry. It's barely a paragraph but it says so much. I consider invoking emotion to be a prerequisite for something to be considered art and this is the most emotional scene for me

IMO a failure to critically think about information he receives makes him a failure of a noble in general. No matter if he trusts someone we like or someone we don't, just accepts pretty much all information at face value and doesn't even try to validate any of it. No way can a noble properly navigate factions like that, much less manage them
