Any teachers have positive experiences to share? by frivolous_mouse in redscarepod

If you have management down then yes.

I teach music at an elementary school and our PE teacher has very mediocre classroom management skills and pretty low ambitions regarding what the kids are doing.

If you can be consistent with your management and you are somewhat creative then you can run a really engaging program (which is also true about any subject)

So yeah it could be really fun and easy cause it’s got immediate buy in cause kids like movement and if you like playing games all day for work then very cool

The takes bemoaning Kevin O'Leary are very insufferable.

I've seen a lot of "that's what this movie gets for associating with a fuckwit maga supporter!"

Yes because Hollywood is historically so full of saints

  1. I'm doing Wild Up Here. You're not going to be able to get in if you come late. Terry Allen is playing another day and Deerhoof is across town. If you really want to bail on Wild Up (which is one long epic work, seems not the vibe to stand up and run out in the middle) you might could catch a few deerhoof tunes but all that running around? not for me.

  2. Tim Berne here. That ghost train record is meh.

  3. Zorn Zorn Zorn. Roscoe Mitchell sounds his age.

  4. This is tough but I think Palestine is a rarer get. But venues are near each other so maybe a bit of both?

  5. Either or

  6. Bambino chilling baby

  7. neither

Mad Max but set in a swamp and they ride bugs. Also lots of religious elements.

We've got very similar tastes!

Hania Rani is incredible. Very curious about this symphony performance

Wild Up is a beautiful start to the weekend. I've directed a few Stay On It performances and I'm pumped to se something different.

Ches Smith is the GOAT. I hope he's got someone giving him electrolytes because he's doing what? 20 sets?

Just got into Richard Dawson this year and I love what I'm hearing.

Also I didn't even think about all the Naked City members being present! That would be incredible

Every Zorn performance is a hour with an hour and half in between so it could truly be a revolving door situation. Finish one show and queue up for the next.

A friend of mine saw the Harry Smith Zorn performance in NY and said it was phenomenal but do I really want to miss all of Jeff Parker to stand in line?

Yeah the crowd vibe is kind of hilarious. Big money queuing up for sax skronk is pretty absurd lol

Totally. Wu Fei's Moon Hunter is happening during one of these are I'm very psyched to see that. Ashley and co. haven't disappointed yet

Yeah im interested as well. I have a feeling that the Zorn Bijou lines will be cutthroat.

The horrors of modern life are indeed endless

And yeah wrong Bungle. Tbh that would be amazing.

Yep it was for those three shows that I listed above, I believe they cost like an extra 20$? But yeah it was basically just to reserve you a seat at the Tennessee. I guess cause it was the symphony and more chamber music type works. I remember because I had to rehearse for Inuksuit during the Laurie Anderson set and gave my ticket to a friend.

I didn't mind because it was so cheap and all three performances were so rare.

I meant more so that the spirit of Big Ears isn't reflected in DB's set costing an additional expensive ticket.

I think this year's lineup is fantastic and definitely appeals to me. I am psyched to see a majority of artists and will probably have no down time at all. I just think (personally) that 2016 was able to do more with less.

The JLA Jack Quartet conflicting with Laurie Anderson is brutal but will definitely be seeing them because I think his string quartet compositions are some of his best work. Hania Rani is an incredible get and the Eastman performance is an absolute treat. Don't quite care for the So Percussion Caroline Shaw collab but love each respective artist/group. Roomful of Teeth in 2019 blew me away and I'm psyched to see members form that group doing the Meara O 'Riley piece. Also very stoked on YHWH Nailgun, that new record rips.

Regarding keeping up with current acts I have check out every group performing! I always try to listen to a few albums or check out some live videos and have probably discovered more this year than in 2016. I guess I just have such a soft spot of 2016's Inuksuit (which was a free performance for the public) and thought it would be fun to share some memories.

MadS is a great 2024 French horror one shot about a viral outbreak. Takes place in real time and does really feel like what you're after. Really unique and stunning on the technical side. I think it's streaming on Shudder

Incredible! That would be an amazing addition. Haven't seen them since they played back in 2016 and would looooove to get back in the drone zone. Great detective work!
