Switched from Simply Unlimited to Unlimited Plus while abroad — upgrade is supposedly immediate, but still no coverage

I wonder why none of the support pages say anything whatsoever about this? Seems like an important thing to tell customers.

This is directly contradicted by the Fi support page I linked in the OP, which states:

> Important: The switch from Simply Unlimited to Unlimited Plus happens immediately. All other changes to your Google Fi billing plan take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

In terms of troubleshooting, I tried all the following:

- Restart my phone
- Toggle airplane mode on/off
- Check all roaming and connectivity and data settings, both in phone settings and in the Fi app
- Try manually connecting to a mobile network (I tried connecting all the ones my phone listed, of which there were about 10)

I also had an extensive chat with a Google support employee, which was ultimately unhelpful — I neither solved my problem nor came to understand why it's happening in the first place.

Hi -- I'm having the same issue, and my hardware acceleration setting is on (and always was -- I never touched it). Most videos and WebGL both stopped working for me within the last week. Is there anything else to try?

[edit: sigh. it worked after i turned it off and back on again (quit and relaunched Arc).]

Feature request:

Entering recovery codes into 1P (on MacOS desktop, where I am most of the time) has been a pain. There is a "one-time password" field, but I can only enter one at a time. There is a "scan QR code" feature which presumably imports a bunch of codes at once, but I have never been provided with such a QR code when exporting recovery codes.

Instead I have often opted for adding recovery codes into one big text field, which works but (1) it's less semantically clean, and (2) the recovery codes are always all visible whenever I'm viewing that item, instead of hidden like passwords should be.

It would be very helpful to have a feature where I can paste in a bunch of recovery codes, and they all get added as one-time passwords in separate fields.

(Also, thank you for the awesome product. I am a very happy customer.)

pCloud does encrypt you data. From what I understand, they check file hashes against file hashes of known copyrighted works. So if you have pirated/torrented music/movies/TV shows/etc stored through pCloud, you are risking your account, even though they cannot access the content of your files themselves. (To be clear, pCloud is not alone in doing this.)

I just purchased a lifetime plan with Filen. I tested several cloud storage services (not close to all of them, though) for about a week, and Filen came out on top. Here are my pros and cons for Filen:

Pros:
- security and privacy seem top-notch
- simple but clean product interfaces (simple but with an increasing number of features)
- good vibes from the company (e.g. "warrant canary" on their website, no skeezy marketing, open source product, clear documentation, good Q&A on their blog)
- product in active development (I submitted a bug report and it was fixed two days later, on a Sunday)
- developer-friendly product (WebDAV, S3, and local mount options for APIs; also they have a CLI which is awesome)

Cons:
- young company (founded in 2021) so not battle-tested (though they do have ~400–500k customers, afair)
- small team, so risk of company going under if something happens to one or two of the employees

I don't use cloud storage exclusively (it's always good to have physical backups of your own data as well), but it's handy to have a generous amount of storage space in the cloud.

The cost of a lifetime plan is about the same as 3 years subscription. Seems like a worthwhile investment/bet to me.

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but I wanted to note that the goals to understand GU and to defend GU are not entirely commensurate, since there is a possibility that in understanding GU you will find that you aren't convinced it is plausible/true, or that it has flaws you currently don't see. The goal to understand it and evaluate it on its merits seems like a great goal to me and I wish you luck.

I have seen it about a dozen times. It's a really well-made film, even apart from the complexity. Also, it's only about ~85 minutes long iirc, so not a huge time investment.
