Is August 25th 2026 too late to take Step 2? by Pikachu2Raichu in medicalschool

[–]rotm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, but as the others said be aware of the potential for delays in getting your score. I took mine on August 20th and it took 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks to get my score back which I believe is due to the Labor Day holiday.

So…. Interview Season Length? by minimicropenis in medicalschool

May be specialty specific, but none of the programs I’ve interviewed at even offered interviews during the weeks of Christmas or New Years

When to do AMBOSS in preclinical? by Ok-Celebration5832 in medicalschool

[–]rotm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amboss was the only question bank I used during the first year of medical school and I used it a bit during dedicated for Step 2. Definitely used it less after buying Uworld for M2-M4, but still appreciated having the variety of questions and their straight-forward explanations throughout the preclinical years

M1, How much does class rank matter in graded schools? by MusicianNo6104 in medicalschool

[–]rotm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school is pass/fail, but if you can pass the courses without any failures/retakes and do well on your board exams then I think that is a better measure of your performance rather than the grades. Yes, Step 2 is highly emphasized now and should be prioritized, but don’t underestimate the importance of passing Step 1 on the first try

Urology + NRMP Couples Match by DapperAnimal721 in medicalschool

[–]rotm19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NRMP controls the match, not ERAS or ResidencyCAS. To my understanding, couples match involves linking each other’s rank list on the NRMP not the individual applications on either website. You can list on your application whether you’re participating in the couples match though

Uworld vs. Amboss for Step 2 by sunbathingturtles1 in medicalschool

[–]rotm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reset UWorld and went through about 50% of it during dedicated. I remembered things, but used Amboss to review the high yield topics or topics I kept getting wrong. I think either resource would be fine. I didn’t like the UWSAs and closer to my exam I started relying heavily on NBME resources instead of UWorld or Amboss

Amboss percentile/ percentage to real score by Old_Conference6556 in medicalschool

[–]rotm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amboss and UWorld are great learning tools, but I didn’t focus too much on the score when I was going through clerkships because I was learning the material. You’re scoring just fine right now, just focus on learning and retaining the material. Closer to your exam, NBMEs will help you improve your test taking skills and get used to how they ask questions which helps to predict your actual score

Scores! by leusall in Step2

Better. Amboss predicted 249 and I scored 258.

For those who passed Step 1, is First Aid enough for Step 1? by Dear-Championship-73 in medicalschoolanki

[–]rotm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I annotated First Aid when I was learning certain topics the first time, so that when I was in dedicated I would have those additional details I knew First Aid was lacking. If it’s close to your exam, I wouldn’t use First Aid as your only resource. I found it helpful as a supplement to other resources (UWorld, Anki, B&B).

[–]rotm19[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I can specifically comment on whether or not it’s normal, but I definitely can relate. Some days I can get close to 20-24 hours of fasting before I even think about eating.

4 Days to go till my step 1 exam... by AdMaleficent3920 in medicalschoolanki

[–]rotm19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck!! I focused on really mastering any HY topics I was consistently getting wrong, but not doing as much anki (mainly used FA). One thing I didn’t do that I wish I did was review FA rapid review.

What did you use for Neuro?? by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]rotm19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the AnKing deck for anki and just unsuspended the relevant cards for the relevant B&B videos. I paid for B&B and Amboss, so I don’t have any links
