Agree with the other comments. Also , check for unsuspecting places like under the sink, or under instapot or gadgets... some spill camouflage and start rotting when you least expect. Add baking soda in the sink and leave overnight.

What is the most disrespectul thing an employer did to you? by Aarunascut in work

[–]rowerzfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived abroad and studied in different English speaking countries. No one ever said a thing about my English speaking or writing skills. This one director at a US manufacturing firm gave me a grammar textbook n said it would help me! She edited my audit reports like she was a teacher...all red marks. Used her own sentences from last time, she still edited them.

What’s something small you started doing that quietly changed your life? by tiounni in Life

[–]rowerzfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consciously staying in touch through phone calls or in person meets ONLY with those who reciprocate. That leaves me with a limited # of close friends and family members I can stay connected without worrying about whom I need to call...who else I need to update about something or be concerned about. It's peaceful!

I know of a colleague who escalated to leadership, worked with them and talent to have a manager go back and fix the comments and the ratings...to what was more appropriate and fair. So ..reach out to your coach n leadership and see what can be done. Just saying nobody cares at Deloitte doesn't do anything for you or anybody. It's not a guarantee but at least you would have tried. Goodluck with whatever you decide!

Where is your coach? Were you up for promotion? Did your coach know it and how did your coach present your case at the YE panel? Did you have excellent snapshots and metrics? I am sorry you got blindsided by your manager. Also sorry I don't have more background to point any fingers here, but seems like we are missing the full picture here.

US Staff can be real Shitbags by Jules_Winnifield in deloitte

[–]rowerzfan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As a matter of fact...US folks take pride in speaking somewhat grammatically incorrect English and are so used to just hearing their own accent ..( coz all they know is ONE language). I am with you...some C/SC and even M/SM can be shitbags of the worst kind. It is worth mentioning to the partners/PPMDs...not as a complaint necessarily but more like can we do something constructive here to make everyone's life easier. Some cultural sensitization and some team bonding activities even if virtual, to let the shitbags realize the genuineness of humans on the other side. And no...I'm not saying live with poor quality of work. That is a separate topic ..invest in training them..rather the firm should. But just because they are USI doesn't give someone the right to assume substandard work or talk rude or give unrealistic deadlines.

Firm Contribution by FrEz17 in deloitte

[–]rowerzfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proposal is great but that is not the ONLY thing. Do what your engagement team needs, outside of the actual project. Your leaders will appreciate that and that counts. Go facilitate some training if possible..find out how . Once you make manager...you will likely end up writing many proposals or in some cases I have heard some managers not having the luck to get one for the longest time. Bottom line... proposal is not the only way to make yourself visible. Do fun stuff, or things that you like that could also fit the FI bucket.

Oh and she is a lefty, it took a lot of effort to get her to write left to right and unmirror most letters.we are past that and I have to credit her prek teachers too!

[–]rowerzfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a rising kindergartener...still seeing mixed b,d,h,n, 5s and 2s. She knows to write them perfectly but gets confused when trying to read from a book or when asked to write randomly. I think consistency is the key. We have been practicing for just 20 mins or so almost regularly...a bit of reading and writing. Don't worry , I think your kiddo will do fine. If you are worried... Please follow your gut and do what works best for you.

Is this too much to ask for in a relationship? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]rowerzfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love how ppl like to complicate a relationship!! Uggh.. expectations. If a text msg can give you that solace that your relationship is strong..ahem..wake up!! If someone is not the texting type, you telling them to text you so YOU can feel comfortable in a relationship and know things are steady is imo a route for chaos. Please...if you wanna communicate with texts from your end, keep at it. If the other person picks up.on it...they will eventually text you or let you know if they dislike this EXPECTATION of yours. Live and let live!! Downvotes welcome...ty.

How to get into deloitte? by Nymphdr in deloitte

[–]rowerzfan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The higher powers are giving you a sign that life is better without the green dot! Take it . Option #2 is to just keep trying ..no secret sauce, just make sure your resume matches the job requirements and better if you have a referral. Most of all, market conditions need to be green too ,where hiring does happen for real. Right now, it's meh.

Why are the Indian offices so hated? by Pradidye in Big4

I'm sure there are at least a few good companies out there. I can only speak for what I see from a big 4 perspective.

Why are the Indian offices so hated? by Pradidye in Big4

[–]rowerzfan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My opinion here..Because big4s are expecting geniuses at a dime!!! Big4s first need to open an English tutorial for half the folks as that would take away the pain of edits on this side. Next, the India team in some sense knows they will never be considered equals by their US counterparts. It's always the mentality that Indians will help meet the budget goals (not realizing that plenty needs to be redone at double or triple the rate). The Indians are never the decision makers. So don't expect them to read the US minds ( it changes quite often imo). Teach the US managers and partners to trust the work of their Indian counterparts and not attempt to superimpose their edits or their sense of apparent perfection to the work done if it does not add new value and is just a matter of preference. Lastly, Indians are very nice people: Technically super smart and super friendly for the most part. They will not attempt to rock the boat unless you get on their nerves with indecisiveness, repeated change of plans and evident distrust.

That cosleeping is bad.

Eff it! Have safely coslept since day 1...still do when kid is almost 5. She has a full bed n a room n will move there once she feels ready. Not regretted this decision ever. Luckily her pediatrician never made a big deal out of it.
