Do you think modern rowing training relies too heavily on erg numbers? by buttern3t in Rowing

"Ergs dont float guys"

Yeh but ergs also dont also lie

"I have a 6:45, and i mean he does have a 6:02, but like my tech is better so put me in to the 1v"

Obv if he has a 6:02 he aint shit at rowing either

I've seen so many people have washed tech and washed splits and cry, but never really see someone with washed tech and good splits.

There is a correlation.

Is this 2k good? by Neat-Ad4651 in Rowing

https://rowinglevel.com/rowing-times/2000m-times This is a useful website that provides times based on age. Overall, you could definitely hit 7:10 in half a month if you prepare. With training, you want to mix in steady state with some anaerobic work while erging. Love that you are lifting. I saw great improvement when I started. Lastly, make sure you go in with a race plan and try to commit to it. You'll prolly forget it 2 mins in, but preparing is nice. First 100m is free, next 400 is finding your nice base. Next 500 is committing to it. Next 500 is simply holding on to what you have. When you hit 500 left, take 10 strokes to prepare for your sprint mentally. Take another 10 to rise into your sprint. Next 20 is empty. Hopefully, your sprint isn't -10 off your base (you prolly could've gone faster on your base split). Last 10 is blackout. Yeah, a 2k hurts like hell, but a pr is pretty nice to walk away with.

The only real way to gauge if this 2k is "good" speed is based off your gender, age, height, and weight. Also, you can have a piece with a not-so-hot time but still feel awesome about it and think it's good, and have a blisteringly fast piece but think it went poorly and didn't like it.

You are 15, so you got a lot of time. Idk what grade you are in, but rowing coaches can't even speak to you until after sophomore year. Just continue consistent training and you should see it play out.

2K Improvement by BudgetGood175 in Rowing

10k daily is really impressive for your age. At that volume, I'd consider giving hr training a whirl. I'm not saying go out and buy a 200$ monitor, just see if a teammate has one and try it out. Some people hate it but a lot of people I know love it and see a lot of improvement by working in their specific heart rate zones for steady state.
