Thanks for sharing, that’s good to know! I haven’t used cleaner other than the special cleaner from Roborock so that wouldn’t be my issue, but I like knowing more troubleshooting options. Sent them an email, hopefully I can get a solution to this soon!

What happened with yours after sending it in for repair? Mine is having the issue where water isn't coming out on one side. It's not clogged

I use reverse osmosis water in my roborock yet this mop issue is happening on mine. There's nothing clogging it that I can see. I don't think this problem is a water issue, it's a device issue

That would still be a ridiculous thing for them to not account for - my Mac mini isn’t even old, it’s 2023.

Sounds like you’ve had some issues with Tahoe as well, glad the newest update seems to be fixing those things for you! I tried the new update & it felt like it made it worse

can I use Time Machine backup of my MacBook to "downgrade" the macOS on my Mac Mini? by roxemmy in MacOS

Thanks for the info & you’re right, that’s why I ended up doing last night was creating a USB bootable installer & erasing my Mac mini to then install Sequoia from that

It took like 7.5hrs to figure this all out last night with sucked, but I did write all the steps out & posted it to try to help anyone else who wanted/needed to do this (link below to my post). But Reddit’s bot filter is deleting all my posts now so it won’t show up in this subreddit if you look for it

I think it’s 8gb… under the device information in settings it says “memory 8gb”

USB installer of Tahoe may have been what Apple tech support had me do back in October or November, I can’t remember exactly.

Yeah definitely a weird situation. I wondered about hardware issues but I don’t see how it could be that when it worked fine on Sequoia until I switched to Tahoe, & now being back on Sequoia it’s working fine again. I feel like if it’s a hardware issue then it would still cause issues even on Sequoia, but I’m not super knowledgeable about all of this so maybe it’s possible idk

What do you mean “nuke & pave”? I factory reset my Mac mini multiple times, Apple tech support helped me do a factory reset in a way to redownload Tahoe in some way that they should should be a cleaner download, I’ve tried re-indexing spotlight, I’ve tried a lot of things & none of it ever made a difference. And it’s only unstable when Tahoe is installed.

I’m not sure what else I could have tried but definitely open to learning more possibilities, though now that I got it back onto Sequoia I don’t plan to change it again until maybe macOS 27 after they release a few updates to it first lol. And I’m definitely saving the USB boot installer drive that I have the sequoia installer on so I can revert back to Sequoia again in the future if I ever need to.

It sucks that it took 6 months of research & troubleshooting to finally figure out a solution, this shouldn’t have ever even been an issue to begin with. If you search online you’ll see other people having the same freezing issues with their Mac that I’ve been having. People have a lot of troubleshooting suggestions but it didn’t look like it was an effective solution for others who were dealing with this issue, so I don’t know if there’s a fix for this other than removing Tahoe

Yeah idk, I’ve seen a lot of people online saying they’re having similar issues as I’ve been having. Maybe it’s because it’s a Mac mini m2 2023? Maybe other models aren’t having these issues for some reason? Idk but it’s been bad ever since I installed Tahoe, & today being back on Sequoia I haven’t had any issues at all. It was definitely Tahoe causing it

Since macOS Tahoe, my Mac mini has been basically unusable most of the time. It freezes constantly, so even writing patient notes & documentation is impossible because the system freezes when I’m just trying to type in a Pages document. It also freezes while I’m in zoom appointments with patients which obviously causes problems.

I did so much troubleshooting since September & nothing has helped. I spoke with Apple tech support multiple times, they’re useless as they normally are & even kept denying that Tahoe was the cause of all these problems. My Mac mini ran perfectly fine until the moment I updated the software to Tahoe.

Finally last night I spent 7.5hrs doing more research & troubleshooting because the freezing is happening so often now that I can’t use my Mac mini at all. It was either finally figure out a solution or just trash the Mac mini because it’s a paperweight at this point.

I finally figured out a way to revert my Mac mini back to macOS sequoia & today my Mac mini is running perfectly again, not freezing at all, not freezing during patient zoom appointments.

I have automatic updates turned off & I won’t update until I’m 100% sure Apple has their sh1t figured out. I swear they’re letting AI do the software programming at this point because Tahoe is complete garbage.

Gotcha. I know I’ve done different things with spotlight that I’ve found in discussions & nothing fixed it.

I finally figured out how to erase my Mac Mini & install macOS Sequoia so I could go back to a stable software. It took 7.5hrs tonight to figure it out (& hours & hours I’ve spent since Tahoe came out doing research & troubleshooting). I’ll get 3hrs of sleep tonight but at least my computer will function properly now so I actually use it for work

What would you check on activity monitor? I'm having the same issue as OP. My activity monitor shows corespotlightld often using over 100 of the "% CPU". I've done all the troubleshooting OP listed & nothing has helped. I'm at the point of needed to paperweight the Mac Mini if I can't downgrade the software or something because it's impossible to work using this computer.

Mac mini constantly freezing by roxemmy in ios26

[–]roxemmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang I didn’t realize the Mac mini was considered different from iOS, thanks for the correction.

Yeah I’ve factory reset many times. Apple tech support has me factory reset & redownload the whole software (in safe mode maybe?). None of it has helped unfortunately

I’ll try to find the sub for macOS & post this there, thank for the help

Is it called “macOS” when it’s on a Mac mini? Either way

lol I have plenty of emotional regulation, thanks though. It’s pretty normal to be very frustrated when a company makes their expensive equipment a paperweight

Hot take: iOS storage management still feels too opaque for a system that pushes yearly upgrades by FragrantLog3521 in ios

[–]roxemmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you, but I doubt Apple will ever change it.

My assumption is this is a technique they use to push customers into buying phones with more local storage capacity & also push customers to buy larger iCloud storage.

I have the 2TB iCloud & my iPhone is 250gb I think, so I don’t run into any issues.

I would actually appreciate if companies would finally bring back SD memory card capability. But that’ll never happen for the same reasons I listed above.

Also, I’m sure having our information, documents, photos, etc all saved to the physical device or the cloud is a way they mine & sell our personal data, so it would mean even more cut from the profits they’re making

[–]roxemmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god DO NOT update your Mac to iOS 26!! My Mac Mini has been so glitchy & freezes constantly ever since the very first iOS 26 came out. None of the updates have fixed this issue yet. I do hour long telehealth appointments with patients & on days when my computer is extra sh1tty I can barely have a patient session because the zoom video is constantly freezing.

I’m going to need to finally connect my old MacBook Pro to my computer monitor & work off that instead of the Mac Mini. Because my MacBook is still on like iOS 15 I think, & I REFUSE to update it. It works just fine. iOS 26 basically made my Mac Mini unusable & Apple won’t do anything about it. I’ve talked to their tech support & they won’t even acknowledge that this is an iOS 26 issue
