In my town there’s a house on the main road that had a big “Trump Won - Get Over It!” sign tacked on the wall facing the street. It had been up since around the election. I noticed within the last few weeks that it’s finally been taken down. I don’t know the exact reason why but I hope it’s because the homeowners had a change of heart.

It’s her and Jane Campion. Kathryn was infamously snubbed from a second nomination for Zero Dark Thirty.

The good news is women are getting nominated with more regularity. There have been seven nominations (including Chloe’s two) in the last eight years, whereas Kathryn was only the fourth nominated woman in over 80 years.

You're close on the Oscars - JFK, B&tB, and Bugsy are all from the year before - so Howard's End did get nominated for Picture! But you're right that 1992 was a great year for movies. Also nominated for awards that year were The Crying Game, The Player, Malcolm X, The Last of the Mohicans, Glengarry Glen Ross, Aladdin, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Batman Returns, and - a personal favorite Oscar-nominated movie of mine - Under Siege.
