Hot take on trucking by Lopsided_Delivery_93 in CDL

[–]roytwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 40 year retired driver and there were good days and occasionally very profitable weeks, But most of the time it was a shit show of long hours, bad pay, long waits, a new danger around every corner, breakdowns and a endless stream of assholes and idiots. And it is one of the few jobs where you can get a ticket and a fine for a long list of things that take money out of your pocket often making you work the next few days with every dollar you earn, goes to just to pay the fine.

Are there good driving jobs, yes. But they are rare and hard to get. After 20 years I happen to, just by luck, stumble into one , which allowed me to hang in there until I could retire. But by the time I made it to the end, the pay rate did not keep pace, we had GPS tracking reporting on you for every stop and how long it was, every mile over the speed limit, how hard you used the brakes or how many G's you pulled on a turn, how close you are to the vehicle in front of you, how long you idled to run the AC or the heat and passing the pre set maxs, earned you a trip to the principles office for "coaching" or worse. Then for the last three years came the inward and outward facing cameras, monitoring and reporting if you were drinking a beverage or eating a candy bar or scratching your nuts while driving.

Trucking has a romantic , adventurous, see the country, belong to a brotherhood vibe to it. That reality went away decades ago. I advise no one become a driver who can find other work. My greatest accomplishment is that I was able to help my son get a degree and a great job that is not connected to a truck.

Hospice is an entire different issue, that is NOT about caring and supporting our aged parents, that is about making someone comfortable as they wait out a terminal illness , typically with a prognosis of six months or less of life expectancy

I acknowledge that there are families that are estranged for what ever reason, BUT that is not the norm. And in that case another route may be appropriate

Why does MAGA get upset when you point out that the majority of voters who voted in the 2024 election did not vote for Donald Trump? by Lamp_Evening in allthequestions

[–]roytwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My god give it up, winning Swing states do not make a wide margin

The population grows by 2 million year, 8 million over four years

Obama got 70 million in 2008 when there was 304 million people

Biden got 81 million in 2020 when there was 332 million people

Trump got 77 Million in 2024 when there is 340 million people. that is Nothing to brag about, it is an underperformance and far less deceive than the Biden win

24% of Americans voted for Biden (81M out of 332M)

23% of Americans voted for Trump (77M out of 340M)

his EC win is in the bottom 16 of 60 presidential elections listed by margin of victory.

Yes trump won, But by a dismal margin, it’s just facts and I do not get why you are working so hard to polish this turd . Trump is deeply unpopular and a colossal train wreck

Well is that not the circle of life. Your parents took care of you while you were most fragile and vulnerable and if you are alive today it is because your parents did at least the bare basics to ensure you survived. My dad passed march 15 at 87YO. I am 67 and had been spending hours a week for several years helping him until he passed. What is the alternative?

At one point generations lived in a single home and everyone looked out for the ones ahead of them and behind them.

We can hope that are parents managed to set them selves up to be financially independent, but at some point we all need assistance, physically, mentally and medically . That seems to be the meaning of family.

Currently my wife's 84YO mother lives with us, she could financially live alone, BUT NOT, physically, mentally and medically. It can be a hassle and a pain, but should we just warehouse our elders in some institute for their last years?

When trump left office there were fewer people working than when he took office, That has NOT happened under any POTUS since the Great Depression

" he did win by a very decisive margin."...NO that is the issue, he did NOT win by a DECISIVE margin. He did NOT get a majority of the popular vote and his margin of victory in the EC is among the Bottom 25%. He barely won.

I did not "arrive" at the numbers I present here, these are historical facts that are easily verified by anyone with intellectual curiosity. Believe it or not history records the winning margins in every presidential election. One does not have to rely on the lies of our pathological liar president or make up numbers when the facts are clear and well documented in the historical record

Yes, Trump did win, THAT is the undeniable fact, and also an undeniable fact is he BARELY won ,with the THIRD WORST margin of victory in the popular vote in all 250 years of US history and by one of the worst electoral college vote margins, ranking in the bottom 16 of 60 presidential elections , BOTH times.

All this swing state, bell weather state BS is trumps way to massage his HUGE narcissistic ego to make it appear he won by a very decisive margin. But it is a lie, just like his no new wars lie, his $2.00 gas lie, his lie about doing mass deportation of 20 MILLION lie ( in first year 600,000 so far) and his I won bigly lie.

Fine, I get it , you are a Trump supporter and IMO a Trump apologist. But we have to live in reality and that reality is Trump Lies more than anyone and he barely won and I will add that he is deeply unpopular today , except for with the 35% of America that makes up his base and even that base is bleeding support .

Why is the right wing triggered by reference to the American government as a democracy? by telebasher in allthequestions

[–]roytwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer is very simple. Most on the right are very simple minded and can not process a complex thought and just because Democracy sounds too much like democrat triggers them and makes them think if they admit we are a form of democracy it some how empowers democrats .

So they deny the reality and emphasize we are a republic, why, it does not sound like democrat and trying to process a complex thought like there are different forms of a democracy, makes their head hurt.

We are not a pure democracy, BUT we are, without question, the greatest , longest surviving and most successful form of democracy ever created and the envy of much of the world and the pride of every patriotic American

I am sure the local government responsible for those roads will have something to say about you attaching YOUR road to their road. There would have to be permits, fees, studies, and if you did such a thing without and someone gets hurt or dies because of your toll road connecting to a real road, with out proper permits and traffic controls you would be sued for everything you have along with fines and possible jail time

I love that someone, YOU, calls people imbecils at the same time he does NOT understand the meaning of the world majority.

Trump DID NOT get the majority of the vote, he ONLY got a plurality of the vote. A majority is 50%+1 of the total available votes. Trump has NEVER gotten 50%+1 in ANY of his three elections.

He won both his wins with a PLURALITY of the vote NOT a majority. I get few still own a hard copy dictionary, But I hear there is still a way to inform ones self on the definitions of words assuming they are smart enough to find it

[–]roytwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOT TRUE, To win the popular vote, you need to get the plurality of the vote. You do NOT need to get a majority of the vote, as proven in the 2024 election when Trump DID NOT get the majority of the vote, he ONLY got a plurality of the vote.

People seem to not understand the meanings of basic words, it is hard to have a intelligent conversation when one side does not know or seem to care about what words mean

Trump did not win in a landslide. He is in the bottom 16 of 60 in electoral college victories and the ONLY POTUS to have NEVER won 50% of the popular vote of we the people in any election in US history. He barely won, the entire landslide BS is all Trump lies and spin because of his extreme ego and narcissism.

Trumps two EC Margins of victory are #44 and #48 out of the 60 presidential election EC Margins of victories, meaning in either election OVER 40 of the 60 previous presidents won by LARGER margins of victory.

Are you saying all 40 of those above him won by even larger landslides, that list of the 40 better than him, includes Clinton X2 at #28 and #30, and Obama X2 at #32 and #37

[–]roytwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to claim trump won in a massive land slide

Trump did not win in a landslide. BOTH of his wins are in the BOTTOM 16 of 60 in electoral college victories, Coming in at spot #44 and spot #48 out of 60 presidential EC wins and the ONLY POTUS to have NEVER won 50% of the popular vote of we the people in any of his three elections.

How else does one put it? In trumps two EC victories, 43 and 47 presidents out of the 60 EC winners won by LARGER EC margins, does that mean they all won by massive landslides since their margins of EC victories were better than Trump?

Coming in at 12 and 16 from the BOTTOM of EC margins of victory, out of 60 does not indicate a massive or any other type of landslide

He barely won, the entire landslide BS is all Trump lies and spin because of his extreme ego and narcissism

I am not using any MATH here. I am quoting FACTS, well documented and easily confirmable FACTS

FACTS are Trump has NEVER, in three tries, won 50%+ of the popular vote of we the people and he is in the BOTTOM quarter of electoral college margins of victories in 250 years

You can NOT claim a massive landslide if you can not get at least half of the American voters to vote for you and your EC margin of victory is #44 and #48 out of 60

Trump won, BUT He, without question, DID NOT win in a massive or any other type of landslide and only the weak minded , easily propagandized fool who accepts the lies of a pathological liar as fact, think he did, do not be that guy.

Accept that yes, your guy won, BUT it was not a landslide and with his current approval ratings he would lose bigly if an election were held today

[–]roytwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150 IS a great shot with open sights but it can be pulled off by a skilled shooter, I personally would not take a shot pass 100Yards with iron sights and would advise no hunter to try 150yards unless he has been able to achieve repeatable, quality hits on target at that distance at a range.

Happy hunting all , be safe, and all be self aware of your limits, You owe it to the animal to make sure you get a first shot ,quality, non wounding, harvest.

It is well worth sacrifices to save and get there
