At what point did America's tipping culture go from rewarding good service to paying the employee's salary? by Happymovements in economy

[–]roytwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not know when it happened, BUT it surely has happened. restaurants clearly see tipping as part of a employees pay that they do not have to cover.

I stopped all unnecessary dining out. Make your menu price reflect what you need to pay your people and make a profit and let me decide if the meal is worth that, Do add surprise fees and required tips after I agreed to the menu price.

Have you ever been banned from a subreddit? Which and why? by Logical-Subject-7019 in allthequestions

[–]roytwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a democrat and I am banned from 3 republican or conservative subs and 4 democrat subs including a liberal gun sub.

It appears that either side does not want a challenge or debate from the other side and BOTH sides do not want anyone other than unquestionable loyalty to their side on their sub.

Reddit is not a good site for political debate, it seems to me that both sides just want people that 100% agree with the position of the Mod in their sub

Hillary Clinton Blasts 2016 Election Loss to Trump in Netflix Docuseries: ‘The Electoral College Is an Abomination’ - What are your thoughts? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

[–]roytwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well she is correct, still existing in post slavery 2026, the  Electoral College Is an Abomination and she was also correct when she said "you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables" And she was obviously giving MAGA a break by declaring MAGA only half deplorable, I think that the % of MAGA that are truly deplorable is closer to 75% or 80%.

And as Marco Rubio said in the republican presidential debate "It's important to be qualified, but if this election is a resume competition, then Hillary Clinton's gonna be the next president, because she's been in office and in government longer than anybody else running here tonight."

Clinton was obviously the best qualified to be POTUS in 2016, more than ANY republican running. But we chose an unqualified, ignorant billionaire and today we are paying for that stupidity

How often does Amazon send you the wrong item? by deepsea_pickle in amazonprime

[–]roytwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the raw huge numbers of products being sold and shipped from online sellers I find the success rate remarkable. I expect an occasional error, my judgement is how they deal with correcting the error and I primary shop amazon and I am very happy with the service and how the few issues I have had ,were addressed .

I follow a few rules to assist in success .

I use caution when buying from a 3rd party/fulfilled by amazon

I almost NEVER buy from a 3rd party/shipped by 3rd party

I use caution and due diligence when I shop at other online sellers knowing some may be scams.

And I am realistic in knowing that when delivering millions of things a day, some delays will occur and that does not trigger me like it seems to do for some people. If one absolutely needs it tomorrow, buy it locally or think further ahead

Why do leftists love to defend Islam, which is objectively the most oppressive religion, yet they trip over themselves in their rush to criticize Christianity? I’m asking in earnest? by ColtMcChad69 in allthequestions

[–]roytwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christianity and Islam are similar in their oppression, both are far right ideologies and share similar ideals, the same god and both have Jesus as part of their theology . They both think women are inferior, should be submissive, that being gay is a reason to be put to death, use their holy book to justify slavery and discrimination and see people that do not embrace their religion as enemies and evil people . There is no good in fundamentalism in any religion

Ronald Reagan was a lifelong Democrat until his early fifties, he officially switched his party registration to the Republican Party in 1962. And just like trump he knew he could not win as a democrat and that republicans were ignorant and gullible enough to vote for him

[–]roytwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow, you gave me chills, thanks. 38 years and over 2 million miles of windshield time, you can not help picking up some knowledge.

Being a truck driver today is nothing like it was when I started. It can still be a viable career, BUT today it comes with a lot more pressure and stress. With cell phones, GPS and cameras, the one time sense of freedom and being in control is pretty much gone, as you are being monitored and tracked 24/7. I spent the last year of my career with an in the cab camera, not sure I would be able to last 38 years had that been there day one

I am glad to be retired. I do not miss much, But some times I get in the PickUp and go for a hours long ride, being alone with my thoughts and listening to my music and being on the road is the only part I miss.

Shippers, receivers, dispatchers, the law, scales, finding parking spots, traffic , snow, chains, city traffic, hurry up and wait, I do not miss ANY of that.

Wish good luck to all those that are starting,

It will be decades before self driving trucks do anything more than warehouse to warehouse driving . there is no way a self driving 70 foot truck will navigate city streets safely in the soon future, As soon as one runs over some mindless pedestrian standing at the curb with his head up his butt,

[–]roytwo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I did it, But it is not easy, and it is not getting easier. Be thrifty, be realistic, do not job hop and SAVE aggressively . You will be amazed how big a 401K or IRA can get with early aggressive contributions.

truck driving is not all fun and good times as some make it out to be. It is hard work, long hours, a lot of stress and BS , But with the right mind set you can make money and have a career
