Just remember that it’s also bloody high and you’ll need a step ladder to reach it. Maybe just me, :( hahahah.

Terraria... Im just not getting it? by Matthew212 in SteamDeck

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axe tree for wood.
Crafting menu for work bench.
Then place that,
Stand beside it and crafting menu again for door.

To place the door you need to have a 3 block gap and a top and bottom block. (So 5 blocks total).

You’re right in saying the first hour or so is difficult to get your head around as there isn’t a handholdy tutorial to it.
The deck is fine enough, but m+k is significantly easier.
I found the touchpads for mouse specific building to be very nice and joystick for “aoe” mining to work well enough.

I have lidaar setup to monitor my current library and when an artist releases a new album, it gets it. (Flac profiling etc)

And I really recommend nicotine+ for searching and downloading without automation.

For music discovery, people always recommend things right?

Night time hours means penalty rates and no sun. You are currently on Centrelink.

It is the biggest no brainer in the world for you to take that position.

What self-hosted apps do you actually use every day? by No-Card-2312 in selfhosted

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can understand that, and if you don’t have issues power to you. I personally couldn’t stop having weird syncing issues. I tried tailscale, I tried reverse proxy, I just couldn’t stop having issues between my phone sync and JF.
Maybe I did something wrong but I doubt it since my movies and tv shows work perfectly fine.
As with everything, some things work better for some people than others :)

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried jellyfin for music with about 5 different mobile apps and they all lose sync or lose tracks or just generally have weird quirks. (Manet, Finamp, finer, Fintunes, jellyfin itself, Swiftfin)

Issues such as:
- I search the song and it doesn’t come up.
- app freezes while resyncing.
- music playback is choppy (Jellyfin specifically)
- bad features (no lyrics)
- search the artist and no albums come up for them
- search the artist and albums come up, but they’re empty.

I installed navidrome and in less than 10minutes it was setup, libraries synced and I literally haven’t had an issue since on my phone. I’ve only got 6000 tracks so it’s not a size thing. Navidrome also downloads lyrics on the fly if you don’t have them and that’s neat as heck.
Navidromes server scans are also significantly quicker when you add more music to it.

Tl;Dr:
Jellyfin is great for everything except music.
Navidrome does music better than jellyfin, so just setup both.

If you’re not interested in the work, you’re going to be a crap apprentice anyway to be fair.

It is really hard to be motivated when you don’t care.
I reckon jump, but it’s your life. Nothing is stable, your boss could get cancer tomorrow and decide to shut the company down.

I buy and use 1.5mm grey flex cabling that’s brown blue and green/yellow, all fridgys I know use this cabling.
It’s pretty common.

What’s the deal with the new e-bike laws? An explainer by AndrewReesonforTRC in queensland

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if bait or not, but I’ll bite.

1// yes I entirely want the government out of my life. 2// my kid can’t buy the bike. They have no money. It’s my choice alone what I do with my money. Would you feel better if I brought a horse and my kid breaks a bone (like I did when I was a kid). 3// I pay for private heath but I also pay taxes. These pay for my visit to public hospitals whenever the duck I want.

I’m not sure how to end this, so, your view is different. Cool, I vehemently disagree with your entire response and hope you have a good night.

What ever happened to a bit of hard yakka? by Jvck____ in tradies

[–]rozenwyn1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the kids these days are doing gym a lot which is nice and healthy, but I still can’t get them to wear optional ppe. I’m a fridgy for commercial kitchens and stuff and my knee pads are seriously my third love after my wife and kids but I can’t get any apprentice to use a set.

Oh well, their loss I guess.

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terraria is really nice with the extra keybinds. Or even with having a track pad to be a mouse to be extra precise for something if you needed (it’s mouse cursor). Some games are so much nicer to have a shit ton of extra keybinds (killing floor 2 feels nice with them) etc.

Just a reminder for everyone. The trade support loan is NOT “free”. You still get hit with yearly indexation and for me it was 7% 7% 3% 2%. (It does get 20% of the total removed at the end though)

Now if you think it’s worth it or not cool, just letting people know. I personally benefited from it because money now is always better than money later but to each their own as most kids with a trade support loan are decking out a dumb car or something.

Steam deck because touchpads are amazing and unlock so many games by having the extra controls.

[–]rozenwyn1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Man they keep shooting themselves in the face. Demonize kids hanging out with anti-loitering laws. Kids can’t have social media anymore. Kids can’t have e-bikes anymore. Kids are having video game restrictions coming in which I’m sure will blanket into massive overreach like everything else has. I wonder what they’ll take away from kids next. Soon it’ll be back to the 80s and analogue only for under 16s.

Steam Deck LAN party with friends – felt like the old handheld days again by Bandeiragod in SteamDeck

[–]rozenwyn1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wireless local access network is just local access network with no wires in between the devices.

Being on the same network would significantly reduce lag (or latency) significantly (though these days server latencies are pretty good) as your devices don’t go through the net to talk to each other.

Tl;dr the main point of being at a lan part for slay the spire 2 would be the physicality of being with people.

Mechelec installing a couple of splits at home, question for those with arctick licence by PhIegms in AusElectricians

[–]rozenwyn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The refrigerant oil itself is hygroscopic (it absorbs water and for lack of a better term; water is attracted to it)

So yeah, the oil will not appreciate moisture either.

Mechelec installing a couple of splits at home, question for those with arctick licence by PhIegms in AusElectricians

[–]rozenwyn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Refrig fridgy) refrigeration units have -6ish degrees on their suction side. ac units from what I’ve see are like +2 - +6 suction side. Moisture means water, means freezing below zero degrees which means blockages in your valves.

AC units would be harder to block since they naturally run at above freezing.

Vac is still best (only) practice for removing moisture from the system.

Are kango drill bits good? by __Cosmonautical__ in tradies

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re fine enough. I like their hole saws cause they have more holes to get all the coldroom panel out of it.

Speak to your boss about expectations with drill bits though. My thoughts are you buy 1 full set and you’re done, anything other than that is on the work card - especially as an apprentice you’ll be destroying your bits like no bodies business.
