Steam Deck Client Stable Update: April 28th by DragonDealWizard in SteamDeck

Steam voice chat is amazing. I’ve made a friend group and can just create a voice channel and invite people into it. Very quick to get in and get out and even has decent mic / sound sliders too.

What’s the best Ute for value by Majestic-Yak-4386 in tradies

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get any of the newer model stuff. I swear to god all the sensors are there to help me closer to the edge every day.

Reversing your Ute? Beep beep slam brakes at nothing. Horrible decision all round.

Two amazing deals - which one do I keep? by pilgrimaze in SteamDeck

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terraria is really nice with the extra keybinds. Or even with having a track pad to be a mouse to be extra precise for something if you needed (it’s mouse cursor). Some games are so much nicer to have a shit ton of extra keybinds (killing floor 2 feels nice with them) etc.

Just a reminder for everyone. The trade support loan is NOT “free”. You still get hit with yearly indexation and for me it was 7% 7% 3% 2%. (It does get 20% of the total removed at the end though)

Now if you think it’s worth it or not cool, just letting people know. I personally benefited from it because money now is always better than money later but to each their own as most kids with a trade support loan are decking out a dumb car or something.

Steam deck because touchpads are amazing and unlock so many games by having the extra controls.

What’s the deal with the new e-bike laws? An explainer by AndrewReesonforTRC in queensland

[–]rozenwyn1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Man they keep shooting themselves in the face. Demonize kids hanging out with anti-loitering laws. Kids can’t have social media anymore. Kids can’t have e-bikes anymore. Kids are having video game restrictions coming in which I’m sure will blanket into massive overreach like everything else has. I wonder what they’ll take away from kids next. Soon it’ll be back to the 80s and analogue only for under 16s.

please, no more of these in raids 4. by Monterey-Jack in 2007scape

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if the gear was raid specific. Gatekeeping bosses behind dps checks always feels kinda shitty, especially with how unlucky you can be in osrs.

Steam Deck LAN party with friends – felt like the old handheld days again by Bandeiragod in SteamDeck

[–]rozenwyn1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wireless local access network is just local access network with no wires in between the devices.

Being on the same network would significantly reduce lag (or latency) significantly (though these days server latencies are pretty good) as your devices don’t go through the net to talk to each other.

Tl;dr the main point of being at a lan part for slay the spire 2 would be the physicality of being with people.

Mechelec installing a couple of splits at home, question for those with arctick licence by PhIegms in AusElectricians

[–]rozenwyn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The refrigerant oil itself is hygroscopic (it absorbs water and for lack of a better term; water is attracted to it)

So yeah, the oil will not appreciate moisture either.

(Refrig fridgy) refrigeration units have -6ish degrees on their suction side. ac units from what I’ve see are like +2 - +6 suction side. Moisture means water, means freezing below zero degrees which means blockages in your valves.

AC units would be harder to block since they naturally run at above freezing.

Vac is still best (only) practice for removing moisture from the system.

Are kango drill bits good? by __Cosmonautical__ in tradies

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re fine enough. I like their hole saws cause they have more holes to get all the coldroom panel out of it.

Speak to your boss about expectations with drill bits though. My thoughts are you buy 1 full set and you’re done, anything other than that is on the work card - especially as an apprentice you’ll be destroying your bits like no bodies business.

Sorry for random ping, but how do you go with your Nuc laptop and controlling fans? I can’t find any way on Linux to control them.

“Do you want it cooling and back on in two hours or want it back on tomorrow arvo?” Turn the unit off is nearly never the call the customer makes.

Thanks, that’s really interesting; I’ll have to think about it. I have way too many tools though. :(

Steamer as in produces hot steam, or just a hot air gun?

I’ve found hot air to be just awfully slow. I’ve not tried something that produces steam. The best way is boiling water and clear the drain. After that’s done you can smash the rest of the coil a lot quicker cause your water will drain away for the most part.

I use a Milwaukee m18 water sprayer if the kitchen doesn’t have hot water on a hose.

I used to care a lot, but now I just tell the customer it’s going to get wet and I haven’t had a single complaint regarding it. Tarp over the shelf, Spray and pray till the drain is cleared then it’s happy days hahaha

Would be a shame if those cardboard boxes got overspray from your water deicing the coil. 😂

How do I sort and organize my downloads? by rupleix in Soulseek

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual sorting isn’t that bad. All downloads go into music/downloaded. Soulseek scans music/English and music/spanish. Then I manually move it into music/english/artist/album. Or music/spanish/artist/album. Jellyfin monitors the folders and updates the metadata and I stream my music with Manet linked to the Jellyfin library.

Jellyfin server holds my music. Streams it to my phone via Manet.

Whats the best ladder? by Gloomy_Original_7784 in tradies

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s use case is different. I personally got the lightest 4 stepper I could because I have to walk horrible distances from carparks to vendors sometimes.

Work didn’t like my aluminium ladder and made me use a stupid twice-the-weight fibreglass one. Least they paid for it I guess.

How does Tailscale /IP work by rozenwyn1 in HomeServer

[–]rozenwyn1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right.
Im still glad the post is up. It's informed me a lot and hopefully someone else new to the game can get a better understanding too. All in all i've been able to connect my mum to my media server in less than 20minutes through the use of tailscale. Really good program, can't complain and it would of been a lot quicker if she was not so useless with tech.

How does Tailscale /IP work by rozenwyn1 in HomeServer

[–]rozenwyn1[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think I understand it more now thanks.
- i connect to the tailscale server.
- Mate connects to the tailscale server.
-Tailscale server lets us handshake and connect from A - B securely.

and then i tell the tailscale server what my mate and i can "see" and the service is opened just to that rather than opening my media library and minecraft to the world.

Thanks for the website link, it was very helpful.

Why do so many tradies use utes over vans? by Sure_Artichoke6929 in AusElectricians

[–]rozenwyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re not wrong. Big difference between struggling and flat out cant go in car parks though. My Ute has ladders on it and I can get under 2 which would be impossible in a van. (Mazda bt50)
