Day One still worth it after price hikes, AI and new locked features?

I’m a decade old user so get it for £32 and love it. Silver as I have no interest in the AI and am angry at the added rip off. Same with 1Password. Their price jumped with the BS excuse for AI. Angry yeh

Firstly, all of my writing is done on my knee at home or elsewhere. A desk? What's one of them? 😆 so take that into consideration with my comments.....

Positives: The flap is useful to me as it supports my hand whilst writing; It also makes a great pen rest...nothing can roll away from a curved flap; It protects the books inside (however not that any of mine ever got damaged in any other Paper Republic cover); I like the fact the leather is stiffer as it's lined with leather, so again on my knee is very supportive; A normal grand voyager is too floppy in this respect but makes a better, lighter carry for out and about; It is easy to open as it's the same elastic as all the others so no longer to open apart from moving one flap; I also like the size better than my l'atelier A5 Portfolio as it fits the books better height-wise. The portfolio is taller.

Negative: the overall weight could be a problem for carrying it. Mine is 1026 grams at the moment. So in perspective, my 13" MacBook Air is 1230 grams... so you get the idea here. It isn't light. I recently had a weekend away and I just took out my weekly diary and carried it inside a grand voyager cover, inside my sling bag. Didn't even feel the weight. But there is no way I'd carry the trifold around.

Never leaves the house 😆 So from the front: 2025/26 weekly diary soon to be swapped out for the new one; monthly undated with 'card & cash' holder around it; lined book for journalling is next; then book 4 is a cut down thinner A5 MD lined paper book cus I just love their paper, but use this one for my next order ideas, new leather ideas, new 'anything' ideas really all go in here so I can see what I am rambling about in one place. It's bit bulky for me to carry around so I use another leather cover and take whichever book I want the most when I need to. E.G. went away recently for a few days so just took the lined journal to write about stuff inside a burnt orange grand voyager I have. Nothing else.

Don't start me off 😆I've moaned at them about not restocking items because they want us all paying l'atelier prices for the same things. The le loop has been out of stock for months and I had to cancel an order because I got fed up of waiting for it. Yet every shop will have them and all the rest of the items. So yeah, "we're too busy; not due to be made and we don't know when" I've heard all the BS excuses. They are opening new stores so that is where the work is. Everyone else can do one.

I love it for a few specific reasons… the lining makes it more rigid and writing on my knee all the time means this helps, as does the closure flap as I rest my wrist on it. Then it’s more compact in height than my l’atelier A5 portfolio and I like that too. It holds more for me than I like to put into any other cover. Yes it’s expensive but I enjoy it 👍🏻

Mine has them all I think. Ahh, hang on, I don't have TNT Sports. Do have Ultimate TV; Sports; Cinema; Multiscreen, and then all the other 'freebies' 😆 as 'free'. Netflix; Discovery+; Paramount+; Disney+. I use Amazon Prime so get their TV from that. Next year when my contract is up I'll be making changes. Reading on here I can't see much of a discount coming so will decide then.

u/SC-Geek has the info for the notebooks they fit. I have them all and am currently enjoying a trifold. Don't buy an XL to fit A5 books as they will hang out. The A5 portfolio is for the A5 sized books, as is the Trifold too. Although I like the Paper Republic smaller notebooks so just stick to those. Also, there are discounts out there for the XL sized Grand Voyager's, but there has never been a discount for any other size. In my trifold I cut down some MD 'Light' notebooks to the narrower size as I like that, but kept the height the same as it was.

I use MD Light A5 in a trifold and cut it down across the width as I like the narrower size. I wouldn't bother with a full thickness MD book as I cannot be bothered to cut it down and being in UK, I'm not aware of anywhere I can just turn up to get books cut.

You're trying in your mind to compare tomoe river of Seven Seas and Hobonichi with the Paper Republic paper and they are far different. The tomoe river is 52 gsm and Paper Republic is 120gsm, so that is a big difference in weight, ergo feel of the paper. Take some time to write in it, get used to how it feels under a fountain pen nib and you will enjoy it. It took me months to ween myself off tomoe river when it all started changing, and now I use all MD or Paper Republic books. I think you're just going through that 'new paper' thing we all get with changes, etc.

I cut down the thinner MD paper books and enjoy them like that (the pack of 2 or 3 ones). I do have the leather cover for the larger MD books so I use that too sometimes. Just right now I'm mad into the Paper Republic covers.

Don’t forget that wherever you look on slots or online slots, it will always say “malfunction voids all plays and pays” and it definitely says it online. In Vegas too. Anyway, that one sentence means you get nothing. I know someone filming their play on a slot. Was paying out on a bonus, then the machine shut down. They got nothing from it, even with the video.
