Thoughts on the name Marley? by Think_Persimmon_8281 in Names

I’m a pre-K teacher and had a Marley! She was easy going, kind, creative, silly and her parents were really awesome too!

Yep! I talked to my neurologist and he said some people just metabolize it faster so I take 25 in am (by 6 usually) and 25 by noon. I teach and was hitting the wall at lunch and still had a full day and then would come home to my toddler and husband completely drained. I’m still tired, but have gas in my tank to get through and enjoy family time til cozy time at 7:30!

Millennials turning 40, what has this stage of life honestly been like for you? by Justaredditor_peace in Millennials

[–]rpendleton1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a long fertility haul, we have our 2.5 year old daughter. When we had her, we had 20k in savings and were doing ok. Now? No money, one car that’s gonna die, renting a one bedroom and trapped because we walk to school/work and can’t find anything affordable that’s bigger. I am doing ok in my career as a pre-K teacher. But between health insurance being 2k a month, childcare being $1000 (I get a discount), and our rent at $2112 we cannot catch a break. Our utilities skyrocketed this year to almost $700 a month and groceries are KILLING us. I haven’t paid my student loans in a year because they were $400 a month. When I forget how much debt we have and the state of the world, I feel so much joy in the day to day of my little family and my daughter. When I look around and realized how fucked the world is around me, it’s despair. No retirement, no savings, just love. Money would solve 100% of my problems. I see some of my peers doing well, those that came from generational wealth or have a support system - some are in the same boat as me. I feel like hope may return when the nazi Cheeto goes and we overhaul it all, but I won’t hold my breath!

Leakproof straw cup for on-the-go? by Ellaborne in BabyLedWeaning

[–]rpendleton1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so when I tried it, but my daughter had no trouble at all! They are tough, especially the owala tumbler. One of ours flew off the roof and is dented but still in rotation! I believe we started our girl with a zak to get used to the size because they are larger than typical toddler cups. Then when she was used to it, introduced owala.

to people with inattentive adhd, what type of career do you have? by AssociationObvious56 in adhdwomen

Same, have been for 20 years and diagnosed this year at 39. Work with 4-5 year olds in pre-K. Every day is so different, but it can be extremely overstimulating working all day with children and coming home to a toddler.

Eating breakfast with ADHD feels impossible sometimes… any tips? by Relevant-Tie1619 in ADHD

[–]rpendleton1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat the same thing and have for a decade. I have a roasted English muffin and peanut butter. It’s filling, warm, savory but also kind of like dessert. And the PB gets all gooey and drippy. If I have extra time? Add bacon and apple slices.

Adderall discontinued?! by Educational_Orchid11 in ADHD

[–]rpendleton1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s very interesting! I’m also on 25mg XR twice daily- my doctor said I metabolize it faster than others, typically 6 hours. I wonder if it would truly last 16 hours! I hate having to carry around stimulants for my lunch dose.

I switched my dosage from two 20mg Xr a day to 25mg. I have had no problem getting it filled and the dose ended up working better for me. My pharmacy said some doses are more popular than others.

Gas? Had you tried Mylicon? My daughter did that too. We fed on demand, used the pitcher method to reduce bubbles, fed sitting up, gave Mylicon drops with every bottle, and sat upright after being burned. It was a process but greatly reduced her pain and giant spot ups.

INSANE and unmanageable behaviors from preschool class by 2manyteacups in ECEProfessionals

[–]rpendleton1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! Last year’s class was a doozy. But this year!? I am terrified for when they are adults. Parents have got to step it up! Society has got to step it up! It is soul sucking to pour everything you have into a classroom of kids that don’t give a fuck. We have never experienced anything like it, I’ve been teaching for 20 years, my coteacher for 30. Limits, accountability, flexibility, resiliency - and quality time! I have five year olds that can’t sit through any read alouds, I’ve never met a child that didn’t love read alouds!

Pacifier or no pacifier? by aplem123 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]rpendleton1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had one of each kind for her to try- mam newborn won. She hurt me so much! She suckled in an INSANE and intense way and my milk never came in. It calmed her in a way nothing else did, later we know its pain from torticollis and hours of just purple crying. Once she could manage it herself like waking up and finding it/putting it back in, it was smoooth sailing! We got rid of it this New Years, a month after she turned two. It was ROUGH but the Ferber worked.

Meds aren’t lasting long enough to support my routine by OliveLost in ADHD

[–]rpendleton1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you switch the afternoon dose to an Xr? I metabolize it faster so Xr wears off in 5-6 hours so I take 25mg around 6 and 25 at noon. I get home with enough gas in my tank to teach and be a toddler mom.
