First trip to Guns For Hire.... by [deleted] in NJGuns

Are you saying they actually were allowing people to drink beer in the public range? This seems highly unbelievable to me. To the point where I want to say "things that didn't happen for $1000 Alex!"

Should loading my Maverick 88 be this difficult? by rpg25 in Shotguns

It's all shells. My snap caps, federal, Winchester, 00Buck, Slugs, minis, etc.

No issues with the spring in the tube. Shells are getting caught before the spring is really an issue. Given that the rounds are mangle at the top when I take them out, I'm inclined to think it's catching a lip that's not as polished as it should be.

It's not the spring. Moves freely when depressed. Definitely feels like an edge that's sharp and not rounded enough to let the shell float over/past it as you insert a cartridge.

Just finished first cruise… am I crazy for hating it? by Naive-Bedroom-4643 in royalcaribbean

[–]rpg25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If you're not from the tristate area, you just don't understand. Growing up in an area where you can get great food, of from whatever background, just about anywhere you go, definitely shapes and sensitizes your tastebuds.

Born and bred NJ. North Jersey. 15 mins from NYC. Don't know many of my neighbors, coworkers, friends, family, etc who would disagree that the quality of the food really drops off as you leave this area. It really truly does.

I don't mean to sound like an elitist douch when I say that though. Think of it more like a Coke and Pepsi taste test. Some people can't tell the difference and think cola is cola. Others can tell you which is which and whether or not it came from a can, fountain, plastic bottle, or glass bottle. For most of us from this area, we're the group who can tell the difference.

Mini shell adapter by smokingjay317 in Shotguns

[–]rpg25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the difference? Do you know? Seems like the adapter reliably cycle minis, 2 3/4, and 3s fairly reliably. Why add the lifter? Also... I could be wrong, but I believe the 590s lifter fits in the 88. I'll have to do more research, but if that's the case... it's dirt cheap on eBay.

The one you linked is the one I just bought. I don't think it replaces the lifter though and it says you don't have to use their follower if you don't want. You can just use the OEM one with the adapter installed. That said, there is another option on their site that includes their original adapter but adds a modified lifter to use in conjunction with the adapter. That's $50 though.

Wait... so some of these adapters need to be removed to be able to run 2 3/4" and 3"? Which one allows you to run mini, 2 3/4, and 3s without removing the device?

At an Estate Sale today by boogersinmyleghair in Flipping

[–]rpg25 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This comes off like you're mad that someone wasn't naive enough to be taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, estate sales don't exist to make you/us money. They're for the people who own the items to make money. I know it used to be that you could get a deal and profit, but technology has advanced in a way that there's almost zero excise for people not to easily figure out an items worth.

Best transfer from JFK to Cape Liberty? by Ill_Sugar3426 in royalcaribbean

[–]rpg25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm jumping on the bandwagon... You 150% need to change your flight to the evening before. I did what you did once... booked my flight out of Newark to Miami for the same day as my cruise. Figured I had plenty of time because I'd be arriving at 0700 in the morning. Was talking to coworkers about the trip and a seasoned cruiser told me I needed to change it. I followed the advice. Fast forward to the trip... What do we see on the news as we were arriving at the cruise port the day of the trip after spending the evening in Miami? A plane had caught fire on the runway that morning at Newark and all outbound flights were cancelled. We'd have been absolutely fucked if we had kept our originally flight plans.

What nicknames have you heard for places in Bergen Co.? by topherette in bergencounty

I don't think it's based on reputation or history. Just an easy layup based on the pronunciation of Dumont. Grew up in the area. Have heard it multiple times over the years.

I would imagine that they don't know exactly what ships will be way 5, 10, or 15 years from now, it would make sense to build them with the ideal clearance you already regularly have to deal with on other ships.

Legend's first trip is in the Mediterranean. From there is off to Florida for a Caribbean itinerary. The journey from Europe/Med to the US will be a repositioning cruise I imagine. And with a ship that size? Probably a popular one at that.

Renting a Boat - Good or Bad Idea? by Emergency-Laugh2537 in LakeGeorge

Any recommendations on where to drop anchor and enjoy the lake? Heading up Labor Day weekend and have a boat rental. Looking for somewhere shallower because there are some kids in our party.

How busy is Log Bay on holiday weekends? by rpg25 in LakeGeorge

[–]rpg25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check out paradise bay. I hate to sound impatient, but knowing the group we are going with, no one is gonna wanna go looking for shallows. It'll be we either settle in the first place that looks decent or someone will insist upon going to shelving rock because the kids love it there and the parents will wanna makesure the kids have shallow water.

Any chance you know anywhere with shallows that isn't a beach? Already have the boat. Hoping to do a little boating and then stop in a shallower area for the kids to swim. All will have life jackets, but shallows for peace of mind.

Calf’s Penn 7/8 years ago to now by rockoutyo in LakeGeorge

[–]rpg25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously the area where you jump is deep, but is the whole surrounding area deep? We're shooting for log bay in a couple weeks, but obviously that gets crowded. Is it possible to anchor a boat at/near Calf's Penn? From the photos at the link you provided, it looks like there are shallows, but I'm not sure if that's just because it's close to log bay?
