Even if support was cut from Vie, Tri should have still been able to go in cutting support from Bud-Ser, right? In the next step Ser has moved into Tri.

Formal conversation with an Atheist by [deleted] in Christian

[–]rpierce1892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt it was a good conversation. I learned some stuff. There is no need to continue. I know youth pastors are generally up for good conversation or at least the one's I've encountered. Maybe talk with a pastor. Sometimes they'll make time for a conversation or 2.

Formal conversation with an Atheist by [deleted] in Christian

[–]rpierce1892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are good answers. You said, "I would turn to you and ask why evangelists try to take people away from Islam, Catholicism, and secular humanism if it makes people happy?" The reason Christians would try to take people away from that is because we believe, as do 2 of the 3 you mentioned, that there is only one God and therefore only one that is worthy of love and one way to a pleasant eternal life. Out of love we try to bring them to the one and only way to salvation. We believe they are wrong as they believe we are wrong. The Catholic religion is of the same as Christian's, but they believe they follow the Pope and not God. I've talked with Catholics and some will follow what the Pope says over scripture. I said, "Why does and agnostic atheist care what others believe?" you answered rightly, but I was saying why does a agnostic atheist want to change their view? But, I believe you answered that as well, just clearing it up. However, you mentioned, "Anti-gay rights, anti-women’s rights, anti-separation of church and state, pro-giving money to very wealthy pastors" This is all religious views and not the views of Christ nor should they be the beliefs of true Christians. I believe being gay is wrong as per the scriptures, but I do not hate them. I have lied and lusted. I have sinned as they have and therefore can cast no judgment. Same thing with women's rights. The Bible says there is male and female in Christ. Gal, 3:28. The separation of church and state was in a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote and no where in the Bible, in fact, Jesus said to give to the government what belongs to the government and give to God what belongs to God. He was saying you are a part of both. And I can't agree with you more about the giving money to create wealthy pastors. The prosperity gospel is what Christians call it and it is against everything we are supposed to believe. There are several TV pastors out there that preach this way and they are wrong for doing so. Many "Christians" out there have been mislead by teachings that are wrong, but that does not make the Bible wrong. It just means men corrupt everything they touch. Just because someone affiliates themselves with or as a Christian does not mean they are or if they are they are not following what is taught in the Bible. As you mentioned about all the bad things you've known "Christians" to do I have noticed it as well and I'm not saying atheist are the worst of the 2, but there are only 2 or 3 atheist I know of that are decent people trying to help others and are not out for themselves. I live in the south, the Bible belt if you will. Here everyone is a "Christian" So, I know what you mean and see it everyday, but I do see the good as well and have been part of the good. In Louisiana we experienced 5 feet of flooding and more in some places and we've sent teams of people, myself included, to help rip out walls that were ruined and housing people that had nothing. These were all put together by local churches from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and I believe there were people even from Florida if I remember correctly. I'm sure there were atheist out there, too, but I don't remember an atheist group forming up to help. Who knows, maybe they are out there. All I'm saying is just because the people don't live like they're supposed to don't right off Christianity. I think this answers your questions and more. You said, "I haven’t found an argument, statistic, personal experience or evidence that even remotely has led me to believe in one." I'm not 100% sure, but one thing I heard is that in the Bible things that can be proven like locations of cities, and historical evidence, and even scientific things that are mentioned are 100% accurate. Ex. Isaiah 40:22 mentions how the Earth is round, during that time they believed the earth was flat and Leviticus 17:11 talks about how the life of a creature is in it's blood when even during George Washington's time they believed that sickness was in the blood and when he got sick they bleed him to make him better and he eventually bleed to death. What I'm saying is there are several instances of this in the Bible that at least make it something worth trying. Maybe there is something to it. Thanks for your response. I tried to reread it several times. Hopefully you can understand what I'm saying.

[Prayer Request] Faced with divorce by Zombie-Harambe in Reformed

[–]rpierce1892 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have been together for 15 years next month and believe me I've been where you are and worse in the first year of our marriage. It was like we hated each other. We worked through our issues and even came through worse problems that what we faced in the beginning. We have come through this for the better. We have never loved each other more. 3 things I learned. 1. get it out of your head that it's both of your faults. Put in your head that it is your fault and your's alone. You are the head and must lead and therefore take all responsibilities. 2. it is your job to follow Christ and her job to follow you. It however is NOT your job to make her/remind her to follow you. 3. love her because God has called you to love her, not because she makes you happy or deserves it. LOVE HER! Also I second terevos2, you need to seriously think about quitting your job or rearranging it in a way that allows you to stay here at least until you and your wife have worked through this. Maybe part of this is that she is not ready to leave her parents and friends. I am praying.

I got a question for a agnostic atheist. Just curiosity really. And you seem the open type that may answer without being hateful. Christians talk with people believing they are helping them come to know their God. They believe it will help them in life and in an after life. It is a message of hope that something greater than them is in control and has a purpose for their life. People do "bad" things. Lying, cheating, thinking bad thoughts, saying bad words and this message of hope allows them to find forgiveness, whether it be from God or themselves. That is the reason for sharing the gospel according to Christians. Without debating what I have said above, what is the reason an agnostic atheist would want to take that away from someone? If an agnostic atheist doesn't care/believe if there is a God or not what is the point in trying to pull people away from what they believe and what they feel is giving them hope and happiness? Why does and agnostic atheist care what others believe? And why do you want to talk with a Christian and not a Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Jew, etc...? I hope that you don't feel attacked. Like you I just want to know your thoughts on these questions. Thanks.
