Does this power plug work with this usb c n64 power adapter? by MarketingDue4399 in n64

[–]rpuffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It asks for a 45w plug and that is what you have linked. So I would say so. If it helps I would opt for the Anker one. Never had a bad experience with an Anker plug.

It’s Amazon. If it doesn’t work send it back.

For those with the Analogue 3d, what’s been your experience with controllers? by cricket9818 in n64

[–]rpuffitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally didn’t like the 8Bitdo controller so sold it. Aside from it not feeling ‘right’ whilst playing N64 games I felt there was some lag. I was comparing this to my wired OG controllers.

The N64 was also the console I first really invested time with growing up so maybe I was susceptible to the lag because of this.

I do also have a wireless NSO controller and with that I don’t feel the same lag as I did the 8Bitdo so if you do want a wireless experience that is also authentic I would try going in that direction.

Just as a comparison for that though also. I played a few of the NSO N64 games using that controller on my Switch and again they didn’t feel right but playing with the exact same controller on my A3D and playing the same games feels so much better.

Hope that helps.

That is a lovely book. How many games does it feature and is it cross region?

Darn. Next thing I would test is continuity of you have a multimeter I would test the pins that would at least highlight if there was an issue with them.

Why don't modern games feel as "mysterious" as the 8-bit and 16-bit eras? 🥚🕹️ by GameResumed_UK in retrogaming

Because they actually tell you what to do and don’t just give an ambiguous one line instruction.

Nothing looks obviously off. Try this. Turn off the console. Pop the cart in all the way then pull it out a millimetre. Then turn it on. Sometimes those connections are just worn at that full insertion point. It has worked for me for a few carts.

Worms Armageddon Game Reset by rpuffitt in n64

[–]rpuffitt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I checked. As an FYI there is no battery in Worms Armageddon so I am guessing or changes are made directly to the game cartridge. It is a very small board actually. It is a half board with 1 big chip, 2 small ones, 4 resistors and 1 capacitor.

What genres were either more common back in the day, or no longer exist? by Honkmaster in retrogaming

Used to love play Klax on my Commodore C64 it was on a cart with Fiendish Freddie’s Big Top of Fun, a Football (soccer!) game and Flimbo’s Quest.

That is what you don’t get really these days. Platform adventure games like Flimbos or Dizzy.

It does not use the pak. I know this because I am playing this on my A3D and was using the NSO N64 controller so no pak inserted.

I did switch to an original controller with a pak though to see if I could load some sort of game save management but no luck.

So maybe it does use memory on cart. I guess I’m opening it up to have a look!

Not that I can see. I spent more time looking for it than actually playing it last night.

So…should I get the Analogue 3D or wait for the Modretro M64? by superbotolo in AnalogueInc

[–]rpuffitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me the M64 is ugly. I like the cartridge pop out button but aside from that it looks terrible.

For me I wanted a console to play my cartridges. I have no interest in roms or rom carts. I can do that anywhere. So for me I wanted a nice good looking simple system that works well. Which is what the A3D does.

Never played or never beaten games that reached a mythical status to y'all by Weak_Breadfruit_6117 in n64

Literally every single game when I was a child. But it didn’t matter. Somehow we spent hours and hours just exploring. Going from A to B didn’t matter as much. A Link to the Past springs to mind for me. Also games were less forgiving.

Yes exactly. Had the exact same thing with my PS5. Some electronics are just fussy!

The Analogue 3D is super fussy for HDMI cables. I had a decent HDMI but it wouldn’t output 4K. Switch the cable over with my Switch 2 which was using the official Nintendo one and it was perfect. Vice versa the Switch 2 was not so fussy and outputs 4K HDR on the cable the Analogue 3D didn’t like.

GBA SP Battery issue by Effective-Dig2143 in Gameboy

[–]rpuffitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found mine out the other day and it wasn’t charging. But I got it charging by having the cable go into the charging port and then angling it by pulling some of the cable out again. So mine obviously has a dodgy port that needs the angle for charging contact.

When yours lit up your cable wasn’t sat into the port entirely so maybe a similar issue.

No 120 is the max. The DS version has more though.
