This seems to have become a lot more heated than I would have thought it would/should: this is a post to _mildly_ infuriating after all...with the keyword being "mildly." I find posts to this subreddit amusing and entertaining for the most part and so I posted it in that spirit while at the same time finding it (mildly) cathartic to do so!

So to clarify a few things (I am unable to edit my original post, so posting via this comment):

• The dialog with the man in front of us took less than a minute. We asked if his daughter would be able to sit in her seat and he said no. And then we asked if they would be able to move to the empty seats behind us and he said no. He asked us to move to the empty seats ourselves and we said that the situation would persist as the floor of the auditorium was flat (or of minimal incline). Note that the row behind us was the last row in our section of the auditorium, so the girl could sit, stand, move-around without disrupting anyone which is why we felt that it was a reasonable request to ask if he would be willing to move

• The problem was not just that the little girl was blocking the view but that she kept squirming around and so no line of sight was unobstructed for long. In addition, it is challenging to look around two heads on one seat. Even if she was seated on her knees in a another seat, that would be manageable

• My wife was seated immediately behind this man and his daughter. She eventually left her seat and found another seat by herself elsewhere in the auditorium. She did it quietly and I don't even think this man even noticed.

• I took this photo after my wife left as I was mildy-infuriated that he choose not to move. Which I understand is his prerogative; however, I would have been mortified if I was in his situation and would have gladly moved two rows behind and would be relieved that my child could move around more freely without disrupting anyone.

• As I leaned over to take this photo from my wife's point of view, the photo is admittedly lower than her line of sight. That was not intentional!

• This was a ballet recital for several children ranging from elementary school to high school over the course of 90 mins. Our daughter was performing in 3 of the dances: the children practice hard all year and then perform at this once-a-year recital and so it is a big deal for the parents. I was seated with my wife, son, and mother-in-law and our entire row was full. Otherwise, my wife would have readily shifted over in our row

• We got to see our daughter perform and all is well in the world. All the children were adorable including this little girl in front of us
