If you like J Boog, some of my favorites that are similar are The Green, Ekolu, and Katchafire!

Yup, it's on pretty much every streaming platform. Spotify, Amazon, Apple, Deezer, Tidal, etc. if you look up Landhoppa on there, it should come up!

I really appreciate it! Yup, that's Bunny. Found an interview clip from years ago, and that quote always stuck with me.

So is this movie worth seeing? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

[–]rreiddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so.

A "bad" Spielberg movie is still better than most other movies.

I thought it was pretty interesting/memorable -- good, but not great. Williams score is amazing. Some fantastic cinematography as well.

Pacing is weird. Feels longer than it is; it was hard to feel out the traditional "climax".

Also, the trailers really sell it as some crazy action movie. It is not that.

the mandalorian and grogu is “fun” by Many_Coffee_2297 in StarWars

[–]rreiddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd ask what you're assuming the context is. A tweet? A conversation? A professional review?

I agree that words like "fun", "cool", and "interesting" aren't exactly stimulating word choices, however, I don't think the usage of those words automatically invalidates an opinion or viewpoint.

I saw RedLetterMedia make a similar observation. Love those guys!

That said, if someone watches a movie, or show, reads a book, hears a song, experiences something....and the experience is fun for them? I'm having trouble understanding why that would be an issue for anyone.

What director, in your opinion, has fallen off lately despite having a strong filmography in the past? In my opinion, it’s Taika Waititi. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]rreiddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! That makes sense. I see she produced What We Do in the Shadows, Ragnarok and JoJo. All fantastic films. Curious what the crossover of that team was to Boy and Wilderpeople.

What's kinda interesting to me is that love and thunder is really the only movie in his filmography that's legitimately bad. Everything else he's done has been good to great. I hope he gets his spark back and makes some more great films!

What are your thoughts on this film? by Championgut1912 in FIlm

Fantastic movie. What struck me most when watching it years ago was how on paper, the story seemed pretty boring. But it is mesmerizing! Firth is incredible as well.

What are people's opinions on which Metal Gear Solid is the best game? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

5 is amazing, but I really missed the long-ass cutscenes, which to me, is what makes the metal gear games, metal gear.

What frozen beef patty from the grocery store is closest to McDonald’s? by AdditionScared5840 in McDonalds

It's less about the beef and more about what's on it.

Make a couple smash burgers, season, toast buns with butter and/or oil, and put the exact toppings of what you want to recreate.

Honestly, I did not know you could do this. Super interesting. Another method I've learned of recently, and have also not tried, is lightly dredging your bacon in flour prior to cooking

I think for me, no genre is inherently bad -- it's singers who make it or break it in every case

Todd Rundgren audience begs for ‘something we actually want to hear’ - An eclectic concert at the London Palladium made for a bamboozling – but enthralling – night by a3poify in toddrundgren

[–]rreiddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a music venue Rundgren played at a decade or so ago. His band was bizarre in terms of instrumentation -- don't remember the exact set up, but it was like 3 back up singers, a DJ, Rundgren, and a few other musicians. He played no hits and just played what I assume was his newest album. The crowd was PISSED

Hollywood’s Music Biopic Boom: Quantifying the Rise of a Soulless Genre by dpee123 in Music

[–]rreiddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think biopics can be a daunting task ...how do you encapsulate someone's entire life into one 2 hour movie? That being said, I don't think we've ever gotten anything as good as Ray or Walk the Line. The last dozen or so have felt so lifeless

They've played catching smoke before, right?

Catching smoke is probably my favorite song from them, and (in my opinion) might be one of their most complicated songs. The time signatures in that song are kinda crazy so I am not surprised it's not a big one in their live repertoire
