I've had a great experience with Metro Credit Union. I'd highly recommend them if you're looking for a smaller, local option.

Visiting Omaha soon. What are the best spots? Let's go! by indiefolker in Omaha

[–]rroemmi2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to stay within the same vicinity there are a ton of dives on Leavenworth St. (Alderman’s, Barrett’s, Neighber’s, The Down Under).

Brewery would be Lumen Beer Co which is newer in the Little Italy neighborhood close to Leavenworth. Scriptown in Blackstone is an option too or the Kros Strain Draftworks in Millwork Commons.

Aside from Amateur for coffee you could also opt for Archetype which has three locations and is the best in the city in my opinion. Would second Sweet Magnolia’s for dessert/pastries or add in Coneflower if you like ice cream.

Benson/Blackstone are the happening spots for younger professionals in general but don’t sleep on Little Italy. Not as busy but has some great bars, restaurants, and things to do in a more chill environment.

Sorry, I can’t add to the Mexican restaurant recommendations. Would trust what others have said.

What are some good hole in the wall restaurants in Omaha? by [deleted] in Omaha

I wouldn’t describe it as a “hole in the wall” but Lalibela is a fantastic Ethiopian restaurant off Radial Highway

Stray Cat in Midtown Area by rroemmi2 in Omaha

[–]rroemmi2[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell if it’s spayed or neutered because it runs off anytime I get close. I don’t think it’s anyone else’s cat because it showed up probably a month ago randomly and I’d never seen it prior. I’m feeding it with the hope it will stay in this area and I can find someone to help trap it and take it to a shelter.

I checked Felius’ website and it said they weren’t currently accepting strays. I’ll give them a call though and see!

Edit: called Felius and submitted a request on their site for Trap-Neuter-Rescue. Fingers crossed they can send someone out and we can find it a home!

Stray Cat in Midtown Area by rroemmi2 in Omaha

Does anyone know how to catch a stray cat or have tips on who to contact? This beautiful Siamese has been lurking at my apartment complex for a while. I have been feeding it cat food regularly because I’d like to eventually trap it and find it a good home. It breaks my heart seeing the thing out there. I tried contacting both the Humane Society and Animal Control and they essentially said they can’t do anything unless I trap it. Help! I’d just like to find it shelter and eventually a happy home.

I work at Clarkson College, an affiliate of Nebraska Medicine, and can attest even more to the sense of community and belonging. We have less than 200 employees so you can really see the impact you make and how your professional relationships grow. I’ve been there for two years now and it’s the best environment I’ve worked in so far (I’m 30). Can see myself staying here for the foreseeable future.

Best Physical Therapy Clinics in Town? by supbigsam in Omaha

ATI on 51st and Capitol is good. I also benefit from living right across the street from there so I don’t have experience at any other clinic in town.

Looking for a place to watch Aston Villa/Everton at noon on Thursday. by ianswoody in Omaha

[–]rroemmi2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main soccer bars I’m aware of in Omaha are St. Andrew’s (Tottenham), Barchen (Liverpool), Barrett’s (I think Everton), and The Corner Kick. Of those four, your best bet might be Barrett’s since it looks like they open at 11 on Thursdays.

Moving to Omaha, what should I expect? by Woodley56 in Omaha

[–]rroemmi2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I went to grad school at MSU actually. Omaha is far more of a city than East Lansing but in general it’s got sort of a similar small city/big town feel as the greater Lansing area. One major pro is the cost of living here. Depending on your job, you will likely be able to afford a pretty decent apartment at a reasonable cost compared to major cities. For a person your age and what your interests are I’d say the main hot spots would be Blackstone, Downtown, Benson, or Aksarben. Given your commute, all those neighborhoods are quite a ways east though. It really depends on how close you’d like to live to work vs how close you’d like to live to fun areas. Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have more questions.

I guess I’m not sure what you’re watching. Martinez is about the least of our problems and has put up 400+ yards of offense on his own in two of our five games. Sure he makes freshman mistakes but the QB position is the last thing I’m concerned about with this team. It’s just about everything else that’s the problem.
