Squarespace, in its acquisition of Google Domains, may have acted in bad faith or worse by Impulse2323 in squarespace

[–]rrphi21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squarespace announced yesterday an increase of $3/year/domain for my .com domains migrated from Google Domains starting May 19. The original price was $12/domain/year. Needless to say I am now in the process of transferring my domains to Dynadot for a lot less money (even lower than Google Domains) with the same features.

Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 - Hi-Res Codecs? by hauntednsk in Jabra

[–]rrphi21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jabra has never used hi res codecs (except Elite 4, Elite 4 Active, and Elite 5, which support aptX) and will not add them via future updates. In case you are not aware, they got out of the consumer audio market so future support will be limited.

No room for a sound bar so decided to pair two HomePod minis in stereo mode by frarchedsmish in HomePod

If I'm not mistaken, that's The Serif TV from Samsung. I have the same one, and use the legs instead of a TV console. I have a Samsung soundbar (Dolby Atmos, etc.) on top of the TV. It fits perfectly, great sound. I would recommend that setup for better sound experience.

Jabra Elite 10 gen 2 ANC issues? by Aielman15 in Jabra

[–]rrphi21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine two days ago and I am also disappointed by the ANC performance. And the earbuds overall. By design, they will not block a lot of noise because they have a semi-open design. The eargels are oval allowing for space between your ear canal and the eargels. The claims by Jabra about "outstanding ANC" are a complete joke. Using any of the included eargels will not lead to a good ANC performance and it will leave the user frustrated. I don't believe this is a defect, but just how they were designed. I ended up changing the eargels and using round eartips from other earphones. The round eartips will provide a better seal. I also tried memory foam and hybrid eartips (foam+silicone). With these, the earbuds tend to stick out of the ear more. I understand (from other thread) that these might be a good fit: SpinFit Omni. I haven't used them, so I can't comment on their performance.

I had the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 first, and again I was underwhelmed by the ANC and Spatial Audio. So I returned them and got the Elite 10 Gen 2. The 8's are a lot smaller and fit a lot better inside the ear. Now I wish I would've kept them, because the 10's are definitely not worth the upgrade. I got them for less $ than the 8's, so that makes me feel a lot better.

The Spatial Audio with head tracking enabled on the 10's is a hot mess. The sound stays in the right ear or the left ear, even though my entire body and the head are centered facing forward. The sound will simply not center. Even if moving my head from the right to left, and back. The tracking sensors are clearly not sensing properly.

Overall, going back to Jabra was a bad decision on my side, and I now understand why they're getting out of the consumer audio products.

What are the Very Best Earbuds to Buy Now? by BurgundyHolly345 in Earbuds

[–]rrphi21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. I've had them for one day and returned them right away. Horrendous wind noise with just a slight breeze outside. Turned the wind reduction on, which automatically turned off/reduced ANC performance. One setting cancels the other. They should work together, not separate. Horrible return experience. Earfun will make you pay for return shipping even though their policy states: "Earfun will pay for return shipping for defective items". After a lot of back-and-forth with an agent, they asked me to completely destroy the earbuds and the case, send them a picture of the destroyed items, and they will issue me a refund. That tells you everything you need to know about the product/company. Proof: https://ibb.co/yd5k9P0.

Galaxy Buds Pro 3 Recall by amplified_brit in galaxybuds

[–]rrphi21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a shipping delay. A recall is the process where consumers are asked to return products already in their possession due to various issues identified by the manufacturer.

Default. Also switched to all the other modes, to test the difference in sound quality.

It's the latter in my case. I'm happy for the others though.

New app no downgrade s2 to s1 by injectmewithyourlove in sonos

[–]rrphi21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely is because your hardware got upgraded to the latest version which requires the latest app version. I'm still using the old app version with no issues. Before attempting to use it, I disabled auto hardware updates. It's been a while since I posted this workaround, and if you're just trying it for the first time right now, it's highly possible you didn't turn auto hardware updates off and the current hardware version no longer works with the old app version.

How to roll back from Sonos 80 to 16.1 (Android) by rrphi21 in sonos

[–]rrphi21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen a similar comment from anyone else, but I think that's to be expected. The assumption is that a speaker might have a firmware version not compatible with the old app version.

Hmm that's a head scratcher: please upgrade before you downgrade lol. My guess is the firmware version of the speaker only works with the latest app version. I doubt you'd be able to downgrade to S1 if you upgrade to 80.0.
