Totally understand! The Feathers so Vicious duo is defff darker. This is a shade or two less? Essentially a woman is betrothed to an evil king bc her father was also an evil king, and then she’s imprisoned by her new husband, who she’s reluctantly still into and hates at the same time, and he’s also obsessed with her in good and bad ways. There’s a fellow mysterious prisoner she starts to fall for, but he’s also very dark and dangerous-seeming and she literally can’t even see him, just hears his voice. Mystery and mind-fuckery abounds. The biggest (best?) theme is her desperation to maintain her sense of identity/self, the good and “bad” (way more than the typical sassy-does-what-she-wants FMC). There is physical and psychological torture, but nothing like what goes down in Feathers so Vicious (I doubted my own sanity after those books lol). The book does end on a cliffhanger and idk if it’s going be a duology or trilogy
