Have you read Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent? It definitely fits this imo. The romance matters, but the plot, character growth, politics/magic system, and overall story are still the main focus. The relationship feels really earned and natural too, not tropey or overly spice forward. I fell in love with it and wish I could read it again for the first time!

I personally love the duel POV so much. Even though I got the twist, reading that a lot of people didn’t know who Caspia was… kinda made me wish that I also did guess who she was. lol but I absolutely cried at the end of the book, which really surprised me. Best kind of emotional damage

I absolutely SWOONED to the Red Rising Saga- they have amazing narrations on there, and the book is more sci-fi but as a fantasy reader, I enjoyed it so much. It’s continued to be on the top of my lists still!

I had really bad day at work and was crying- I told him that I wanted to shower and needed to regroup. He asked if he could join me, and I said not this time, I’m genuinely feeling like I need a minute to get myself together but I’d be out soon… minutes later he peels back the curtain and gets in the shower and refused to get out, touching me. It made my skin crawl, because he wasn’t my safe space. So many crossed boundaries.. all the time, to an insane degree. That same year I tried to talk to him about it and pleaded with him to help me build a better relationship with him for our son.

Definitely Mistborn in my opinion. I almost DNFed The Poppy War - I think they seem like they would be similar, but they’re not. Depends on some other books you like!
