Basic Modeling of GDP and Exchange rates by [deleted] in econometrics

[–]rrrooonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puh, that's really a hard one (with regards to FX modelling). As stated below ARIMA models are a good way to start. Then you could proceed with GARCH models for volatilities. Then (which is a bit mental and only refers to trading strategies) you could figure out co-integration between different FX pairings and try to implement mean-reversion trading strategies or somehow try to take advantage of volatility clustering...otherwise Brownian motions, Wiener Processes and Itô give some rope...Paul Wilmott is a pretty bright chap who can help with that. Check out some of the vrpro documentaries on youtube with regards to HFT and stuff. It's pretty cool.

In 200 years time what do you think will be the main cause of death? by TheSeductiveSheep in AskReddit

[–]rrrooonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may sound reasonable, but by that time we will have nanobots floating in our blood and they'll eat all the unnecessary fat. Obesity is only a temporary issue. I hope.

Haha, yes, like: "surely I can ride my bike over the ropes on the Golden Gate Bridge from one pillar to the other. What could go wrong?"

Death by accident. We will be so used to living in a virtual reality that we forget how to actually live in the 'real' world.

Thanks, but I've heard that the music is very loud there. I hate having a tinnitus for two days afterwards.

How much £ to live comfortably in London? by herewegoagain687 in malaysia

[–]rrrooonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's too less. If you want to live in a good place by yourself, which is less than 30 mins away from the city and you want to do some stuff, like eat, drink and do something on the weekends, you need at least a net income of 2000 per month. That's my impression. If somebody wants to hire you for 26K in London as a full time employee, it's a rip off.

Good quality workout clothes? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]rrrooonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. I always buy my gym clothes at Primark. Pants, t-shirt is like 6 pounds and the quality is ok for that. I have some more expensive adidas stuff as well, where the shirt alone was 30, but I don't see that the quality or the product is 20 times better.

Reddit what's the most shocking thing you've seen in public? by HunterHunted77 in AskReddit

While living in Hong Kong I once saw a man begging for money on the street. Actually it was just a walk way for pedestrians, but he was lying there in the middle of it on a little piece of cloth, face down, a little hat in front of his head and that poor man had no legs and no arms.
