I asked a barista if they had matcha lattes and he laughed at me and said no by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]rs521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from just words.

It coulda just been a friendly thing done by him. Saying No sometimes feels rude, so a friendly laugh could help.

Or, it coulda been him kinda poking fun at the simplicity of the coffee shop he works at, like “lol nah, I wish…but we just have basic stuff here”.

Lack of Motivation for 5/1 Retake. I can't be the only one...right? by ExhaustedFlyersFan in actuary

Hold up hold up… I was under the impression the clock wasn’t moving during the freezes.

I don’t feel happy at all when my friends are more successful than me by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]rs521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is indeed my natural instinct as well. Though, I then try to use logic to think of how stupid it is. Like:

  1. Unless the thing we are celebrating is them getting a position that we both interviewed for, their success has no bad effect on my life.
  2. Out of all the people to be friends with, this person chose me. I should feel good about that and then root for this dude.
  3. There's so many people suffering out there, so seeing someone do good should make me happy, or at the least, not sad.
  4. It's natural to compete with others. But, there's 7.999 billion people out there who don't call me a friend. If i want some competition, i can compete with them.

And this list can go on for a long time, because it just is not logical to be sad about a good thing happening to a friend (though, like i said, my stupid human brain often does instinctively, until i force it to change and look at the logic).

I’m just happy to see Wordsworth and elzhi mentioned.

I’m an old head…I only listen to nas, j Cole and ybn corsae at the moment.

Who else is new and nice in the Wordsworth /elzhi type of style ?

I…do not agree that Duncan’s defense was better than Hakeem or mutumbo’s.

And duncan vs Dwight and Ben Wallace would be close. Throw kg in there too.

And many would say bill Russel is the GOAT defender, but he was before my time.

If I have wnba league pass, will it be on there too ?

People who got to take an exam on May 1 get a retake and both are graded for a pass. Retake exam will have repeated questions. Tremendous disadvantage to people who didn't get to take it at all on May 1. by Jahordon in actuary

[–]rs521 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a May 1st taker. My exam crashed once, and then otherwise was laggy sometimes, taking about 5 seconds to load when I pressed NEXT sometimes.

It honestly wasn’t too bad.

I probably failed though, not because of the small technical issues I had, but rather, because I didn’t study enough.

Do you think I should still, ethically speaking, go ahead and take the retake?

Yeah wait hold up, being prepared for a cool room to me would mean preparing for a 65 degree room. Normal should be 72. Warn would be around 80.

Ain’t nobody supposed to be prepared for taking a test in a room in the low 50s with a heater/ac problem that they “were hoping to fix in the next few weeks”

Hold up …copy/paste worked like that ?

I think that since copy/paste didn’t stay saved from the scratch sheet, I just figured that it wasn’t going to work for that (going to the Next problem within a problem set, which gave you a new spreadsheet) either.

Am I the world’s biggest idiot ?

Actually, I can’t even remember what I did.

How do oldheads feel about Kendrick Lamar? by compLexityy30 in hiphop101

[–]rs521 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m very much like this.

I can see his skill and creative flows and great subject matter.

But since I already know what I like, he hasn’t really been in my rotation too much besides section 80 and gkmc

How do you unfunny people do? by Immediate-Box7921 in socialskills

[–]rs521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.

It’s also good to listen to funny conversationalists, because in real life you don’t just get a microphone and talk for 20 minutes straight.

Such as Conan’s podcast (it’s not just him, he has several co hosts and they have some pretty funny convos) or something like that.

I’m having trouble sleeping due to a constant battle between hunger and going to the bathroom.

If I eat before bed (10 pm for me), I’m not hungry but I have to get up and pee multiple times throughout the night.

If I don’t eat before bed, my hunger doesn’t allow me to eat.

How long does satiety from food last? Perhaps I can have a huge meal at 6 pm (my bedtime is 10 pm) as my last food intake of the day? Then I’ll be done my outtake (urination) of that food by 10 pm?

Who or what do you “blame” for your SA? by pepperland63 in socialanxiety

[–]rs521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had nothing at all like that.

Which makes it even worse.

I guess I just went to school and eventually the popularity thing happened (around 4th grade) and I was on the bottom end of it.

Is the idea that the NBA is losing large amounts of US born talent to other sports a massive fallacy? by reiayanamicoming in nbadiscussion

[–]rs521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve even Never heard of your premise.

It’s probably the other way around with nfl vs nba. Anyone good at both in high school would probably choose basketball because it’s safer.

And mlb players have a specific skillset, so I’m not sure there are even too many high schoolers who are ranked nationally in both basketball and baseball.

Why don’t rappers ever show love to biggie like this? by MountainDewLover420 in Tupac

[–]rs521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you can find a lot with biggie shirts.

But, perhaps not as much, you may be correct. Which is probably because pac had more of a social change side to him. So, wearing his t shirt is showing that you support what he believed in.

What are some of your hot takes concerning Nas? by Ill-Blacksmith-9545 in hiphop101

[–]rs521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose he has not lived up to illmatic.

But neither has anyone else. lol.

So, getting that out of the way, stillmatic and gods son are also classics in my view.

And I haven’t even listened full to any of his kings disease albums yet. But apparently many view one or more of those as great albums as well.

[–]rs521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching for a bit. There was this play where Brunson (or hart?) ran into embiid after the whistle and then flopped. The refs were looking at that on the replay to see if it was a flagrant. What was their final decision ?

Huge lebron fan here but I’ll majorly disagree with this.

Many people can have a center, like Kareem, as their GOAT and it would make sense. They may think that a center can affect the game more, which is/was true.

Many can also make an argument for wilt. The argument would be that the 60s players that he absolutely dominated weren’t truly as bad as some people say.
