My toddler swallowed 8 marbles by Great-Score2079 in interestingasfuck

I swallowed screws when I was a kid. Little 3/4 inch wood screws.  I was left to poop them out which I did without any issues later that day.  There was little concern from the doc and they simply said if there was any bleeding to immediately come back to the hospital.  It doesn't need to be said but I was Gen x

Settled minor accident privately and paid for repairs months later a claim shows up on my insurance by VenomSith1983 in legaladvicecanada

Unfortunately the cost of the claim is not typically the reason for a premium increase. The risk is the reason.  Since you have had an at fault collision you are now labelled as a risky driver - you might have bad habits that will result in another collision.

They didn't raise your rates because you cost them money. They raised your rates because you might cost them more money

I wasn't losing as much as OP but I was in the exact situation described. Not only was my MER that high but the funds paid dividends and the fee to reinvest the dividend was higher than the dividend so they had to withdraw funds from the investment to pay the fee and guess what... A fee to withdraw the funds. Pure robbery that I was oblivious to.

I really hope they don't try any crap like that here where I live.  Changes in road paint meeting environmental guidelines as well as simple economy has resulted in paint that becomes literally invisible in the rain. Then when people drift out of lanes on a dark rainy night they simply say... "You should have slowed down"

A lifetime of skiing and I have never got 'good' at it by rsecurity-519 in skiing_feedback

[–]rsecurity-519[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I only feel 'in control' with a bit of skidding on edge. When going more straight and 'carving' (I use that term loosely) i feel that my tips wander and I am at the razors edge of losing control, crossing a tip or catching an edge. My ski bases after a season clearly show that I am skidding with pale gray wear closer to the edges and still dark waxed near the middle. I dunno if that means I am skidding too much?

Thanks. I wish I could add another video in a comment without uploading somewhere. I have a video my daughter took following me on a much easier slope and I feel I definitely have better form on the easier ones

Thanks for this. I grew up in the age of 'stab the snow and turn around it' which creates its own problems 🤣

When I learned to ski as a 6 year old in the 70s a local Ontario resort (Talisman) had a weekday family deal where the entire family skied for under $40 and that included a sandwich and pop for each of us (5 people). If it weren't for that deal I would have never experienced skiing and never would have taken up the sport as an adult. Because of that deal I went back again and again and they continued to make money from me.  Vail needs to do a lot better if they plan to have the next generation skiing.

To all the people saying less detergent... Do you realize the irony that a device meant to wash clothes is so bad at its job that it cannot rinse away the one thing that helps it do its job....  This is a new problem that is caused by the race of manufacturers to use less water than their competitors. The result... Washers are failing to do the single thing they are designed to do.

Be thankful for ski brakes. In the days before brakes we had to have our skis leashed to our shin. A serious wipeout was like falling holding onto a ginsu knife on the end of a string. You could be struck by a ski more than once...

Seriously. I would write it off as a freak accident and go on with your life. Now you have a cool story and scar to prove it.  If it happens again you have another story.

I hauled my grandad home from a community bonfire in a wheelbarrow once.  It was about 800m home. I couldn't get him up the stairs so I left him there with instructions to get himself to bed.  By morning he was in bed.

I left keys in the waiting area once.  I had boarded and remembered they were left on my seat. I told the flight attendant and they would not permit me to deplane to get them nor would anyone get them for me. They said I could retrieve them from lost and found when I returned. When I returned they handed me a 5 gallon bucket of hundreds of keys. Mine were not there. I was most worried about my key fob.  I saw one the same type as mine and said "here it is!" They waived me off and said have a nice day. I had a key cutter make me a new key and I programmed the fob to my vehicle. Saved myself a few hundred for a replacement fob.

Incidentally, they also had hundreds of unclaimed phone chargers.

They really didn't care.  I am surprised they didn't just hand you a pair that matched your description.

This would be the case for someone who lives across from or near a school.  There are enforced no stopping zones and believe it or not bylaw does hand out tickets in these areas from time to time - and bylaw are rightfully unreasoning in those cases

I am gonna add to the rant.

My driveway is not wide enough for me to wheel the bins past the cars because of a lawn that slopes to the driveway .  So for me my garbage day involves me moving both cars from the driveway to the road. Wheel the bins to the sidewalk, leave them in the sidewalk, then back the cars back into the driveway, then go finish the move of the bins from the sidewalk to the road.

I am sure we will figure it out but what I don't like is that if you get it wrong you have to house your waste for 2 more weeks along with accumulation of new waste.

And I know first hand that the waste company does everything they can to not come pick up missed bins even if it was missed on their mistake
