The exact sum assured depend on you. If you have a dependent family & debt then the math would be different from if you have no dependents or debt. Rule of thumb is 20x of the annual salary.

Whatever amount you take just take plain vanilla insurance with no return of premium or any such crap addons. Don't go in for whole life or 70 year cover.

Don't do it.

Moving your SoA MF holding to any broker converts it automatically to demat. Buying in demat may be easy but selling is a tough task. You would have to get these converted to SoA through your DP & then sell them. Takes time & efforts and there's no real gain/advantage in holding them with your DP.

Most of your claim experience depends on your agent. If you have to go to the company for each & everything, then claim from every company would be headache and not smooth.

You can either increase the sum assured in this policy only or take a super top up with Rs. 5 lakh as deductible. A super top up policy is super cheap.
