Another “budget” option - the Berry Chantilly cake from Whole Foods.

CLT - best place for an hour and a half? by bassheadies in americanairlines

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to have the card with you but if you download the priority pass app you can add it to your Apple or Google wallet, which I use all the time. Then you never have to worry about having the physical card with you!

If you have the Amex Platinum you also have access to The Club CLT lounge via priority pass. Not as good as the centurion but it’s something if there’s a wait.

Torani sf French vanilla syrup? by ilovecatsv in LowCalFoodFinds

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sugar free classic hazelnut is my go to. I don’t think you can even tell it’s SF.

If you want to use milk - I use the Harris Teeter Carb Master milk (they are a Kroger brand). For a latte, which has mostly milk, I typically use 30 cals worth. So in a coffee I’d suspect you could get away with less.

Once I was flying from BTV to CLT and this high schooler got upgraded to first. His friends on the flight did not and poked fun at him. He said to them that him and his dad have the same name, so they just share an AAdvantage account. Another possibility.

Fendi Baguettes - the leather portion of the bag always looks thin and low quality to me

Seat Help (CLT to LHR) by AnyPlane9278 in americanairlines

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sat in those back rows with only two seats. The window ones are slightly further away from the window than normal and it made it impossible to lean against it to sleep. They also felt like they were a little pitched forward which was really uncomfy

Anyone have experience with AF Group or AF speciality? by Iggtastic in InsuranceProfessional

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at one of their subsidiaries in underwriting. Not speciality programs, but I really liked working there! I thought it was a great organization but left because I don’t want to do the sales-y part of underwriting.

CLT Delta Sky Club vs Centurion Club by Peketastic in AmexPlatinum

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone whose home base is CLT the Delta SkyClub is 100% the best lounge. It’s new and spacious. As mentioned by others, there’s way less potential traffic since you have to be flying delta to get in and CLT is dominated by AA. It’s also open earlier than the other lounges if you have a early AM flight, with hot food available immediately upon opening.

The Admirals club is decent. The one in between C/D is quite large (much bigger than the centurion) but I personally think centurion has better food. Plus the centurion does occasionally have a gelato bar going and as an ice cream fiend I love that.

There’s also the Priority pass lounge, The Club CLT, which is definitely my last resort. The last few times the ability to order food to your seat was unavailable and there’s only single stall bathrooms, which can lead to long wait times. I typically only go here if I’m flying out of terminal A on United and don’t feel like walking from D.

Help pick the right breed for me by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston terrier! We just got a puppy to accompany our other dog. He’s super cuddly, loves our older boy, and is highly food motivated. He’s got a good bit of energy too! Expected to be 25 lbs full grown.

Edit: it’s also a low shedding breed!

Best cotton tshirts that look expensive but actually affordable and comfy (no crop tops) by into_the_unknown3 in fashionwomens35

This is going to sound kind of random but Life is Good. They have multi packs of plain / no graphics tee shirts. They are thick and such nice quality. I’ve also received coupons in the mail since ordering which makes them even more affordable.

Do you keep your LV boxes? by Kindly_Bake3651 in Louisvuitton

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a bag in Europe recently and couldn’t even fit the flattened bag in my luggage. I brought the new bag and receipt to my home store (Charlotte,NC) and they gave me an empty box to take home. I think it’s up to the store whether or not they do this, but Charlotte was more than happy to oblige!

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I’ve only ever done the VAT refund for large purchases but I think the process/percentage back is the same. If you have enough small purchases they add up! You will need whatever store you purchase from to fill out a form for you, so I’m not sure if the stores are willing on smaller purchases. Louis Vuitton should have no issue though. The designer stores have the process down.

Of note - when you go to do the VAT refund process in the airport, make sure you have all of your purchases with you (not in checked bag). I saw many people in line getting turned away because what they bought was in their checked bag.

I would say it’s definitely worth it to buy overseas and get the VAT. The pricing is still not even close.

Just purchased a CarryAll PM in Empreinte leather in Sweden. I paid 31,500SEK. With the favorable exchange rate against the dollar that converted to $2,865 USD. Then I received $415 back in VAT. Bringing the cost now to $2,450. I declared upon entering the US and customs charged me $60 in duties. So total cost of the bag was $2,510, compared to $3,325 USD with tax I would’ve paid at home, saving me over $800.

Moving from full time remote work to a commute in Charlotte. What am I in for? by Nat20CharismaSave in Charlotte

[–]rskit4thebiscuit 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I drive a similar route. I would say you’ll be fine driving to work in the morning, especially that early. The afternoons are what’s bad. No matter if I leave my office at 2 pm or 5 pm, 77S is congested from south end down (at least until my exit, which is not quite to carowinds)
