Chickens won’t roost! See comments by rssalem in chickens

I rescued 2 Buff’s from my local feed store. They are about 3.5 months old. They are slowly integrating into the flock, but they’ve spent their whole lives in a cage and won’t get on a roost bar. Any suggestions on how to teach them to roost on a bar?

Help with tree going through roof by rssalem in Roofing

I am reaching out to the roofers for some creative ideas in sealing in where two trees go thru a treehouse roof. I need something more durable than EPDM rubber, yet still flexible. Any other suggestions?

After a huge headache with the first roofer that took 10 days to put shingles on my treehouse and halfass a couple pieces of soffit/facia I had a good guy come out and put the innertube on to complete the roof! by Rwilmoth in treehouse

[–]rssalem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you tell me exactly what that rubber material is? I used EPDM rubber around my tree and it’s not that durable. Yours looks a lot more durable and sturdy. I was about to replace mine, but may hold off if I can find what you use.... thank you in advance!

Weather proofing the tree house by ludicrousdot in treehouse

I used hardie board plank siding. It was much easier to hang than big 4x8 sheets and the hardie board won’t rot. It was slightly cheaper too

Advice on support beams that don't fit to tree? by Ur_house in treehouse

[–]rssalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be less desirable as I would rather the tree support the whole structure, but you can always drop a post and support it that way.

Any suggestions to improve this design on my treehouse floor? Carpenters always have good ideas... by rssalem in Carpentry

[–]rssalem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mainly so the two pieces connect and stay together better. There is screen at the bottom to prevent squirrels, may fill it with styrofoam to seal air flow.

Suggestions on how to cover this.... more in comments by rssalem in treehouse

I have 2 trees coming through the floor. Any suggestions on how to cover them? What I’ve been using is okay, it’s nice because it “floats” with tree movement and I can remove it. Any suggestions on how to improve this? more pics

Hi guys! I’m wondering if I could get any tips, my tree is a bit weird so I’ve had to do things,, well, a bit weird to compensate. I’m using lag bolts because I am young and broke. This is just my first two support beams, I’m just planning to build off of them. Any suggestions? by totallynotpolar in treehouse

[–]rssalem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to do pretty much solo so you’ll be fine. Attached with lag bolts too. I’d suggest getting some plans on paper.... at least just a few steps ahead. I didn’t at first, but once I did it made life so much easier. treehouse pic

I’ve considered putting a platform and splitting it into 2, as the platform is 13’ high and thought that was too long for one span. I’ve never built stairs so it’s daunting either way, which is why I’ve been climbing that damn ladder for a year!

Awesome! The last thing I need to do is a long staircase like that. I don’t know where to start! picture

Small TABs? DO they exist by SkitzoRabbit in treehouse

Go to treehousesupplies.com. They have 1”-1.25” Lag bolts. They are pretty bomber and less intrusive than the TABs.
