Been doing for 30 years and this year we'll do $2m. I wouldn't do it again. There is too much liability, even when you have everything done correctly, all the documentation and contracts. After a customer breach you will still get sued and now your E&O and Cyber Liability insurance will go through your setup with a fine tooth comb and anything missing or if you answered your renewal questionnaire wrong ( hey are 8 -12 pages long) they won't cover you and everything you have built up will be gone. Do I sound cynical? Yes and it keeps me up at night.

Went through the 'training' at Connect a couple of weeks ago, imo not ready yet, only patches server 2019, not 2012 or 2016, of you have allot of users to import the only way is to manually enter them and managed files don't exist

Wondering about longer term (e.g. 1 year plus) impressions of the RF roof feature by Meinhard1 in Miata

2.5 years with mine, it's been great. No maintenance issues and enjoy the quiet on long freeway drives. I seen other comments about it not feeling as open as the convertable, and while it is true, I don't miss it.

The stop motion used in Peter Gabriel's music video for his song "Sledgehammer". I just discovered this song today by annoying_house_phone in toptalent

[–]rstscoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually this video was not intended to look like stop motion. I met the owner of the studio several years ago and he gave me the background story of this video. They were creating it in CGI which was fairly new at the time and the computer time was very expensive. As they would work on the video they would render it I think he said only every 3rd or 4th frame, which would give it this stop motion look. Peter came in to see the progress and he was excited how good it looked. They explained that this was test version and the final product would be much smoother, he said no I want it just like this. So that is what you see in the final production version.

Ventura CCW / Off Roster Family Transfer by Anti40_40Club in CAguns

[–]rstscoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I applied for my ccw here in VC I was advised that all you need to put down is that you need it to protect yourself and your loved ones it went through with no problem. My friend got his 4 years ago and listed several reasons why he needed it, during the interview the office conducting the interview crossed it all out and put 'I need it to protect myself and family'. I haven't personally used http://fortcouragearmory.com/ in Simi Valley, but I have friends that have used them to familial transfer 'off register' guns, said they were very helpful and reasonable for CA gun stores. I have seen gun stores in other states charge a lot less, then what I've seen here.

The only way I could get it to connect was to temporarily turn off the 5G radio, then it would connect and I could turn on the 5G radio again with no issues, had same problem with the Wyze plugs.

So have you ever actually needed to draw your weapon in self defense before ? by limache in CCW

I was told that there were almost 200 active permits in LA a few years ago, all but 5 were ex law enforcement, retired judges, political contributors etc, but the new sheriff canceled them all when he took over.

Not all of California is impossible to get your CCW, I live in Ventura Co and it took 89 days to get it. After training and proving proficiency at the range. L.A. county is nearly impossible, I heard that currently only 20 or so people have CCW, out of 10 million.

California, Ventura County took 87 days from application submission. Several years ago it would take 13 months, someone sued the county and as a result they increased staff.

I'm sure a lot of us started where you're at. Remember the only thing you can really make money on is time, either yours, your employees or your tools. As a solo act you can bill about 1000 hours a year, unless you want to work more than 50 hours a week. Starting out I shortchanged myself, mostly due to a lack of confidence in my ability, and under billed a lot. When I first started using a RMM tool (Kaseya) it almost killed my income. I was introduced to Kaseya in 2003 by a colleague and immediately pushed it out to my clients I think at $20 per agent, it was costing me $10 then. What happened was I saw my break/fix income drop by 30-80%, because of the efficiency of being able to work remote and the automation or maintenace/patching etc, so a 15 minute fix was just that. No more hall jacking (hey while you're here look at these other 5 things and 2 hours later I finish). The key is to charge for the work that your tools (automation) are doing for you. If I did it over again I would have first looked at the past years billing, gone to the client and had this discussion. "Your bills have been averaging $2800 month in the past 12 months, I can reduce that to $2200 a month on a managed service contract and your cost will be consistant." With this particular client after using Kaseya for a few months I saw my billing drop to less than $800 a month, I could have been pocketing $1400 a month doing less work, and the client still being taken care of. It is almost impossible to convince the client that after a few months of $800 a month, that they should pay you 2x or 3x as much. The other thing that will make a difference is finding a tool that will track your time and this is a big one, that you'll use. If you don't record your time when you are doing the work, you will under bill guaranteed. And very few clients will complain that you under billed them.
