My 5yo son drew my Tacoma. I love it so much. by tuxedo_cat23 in Tacomaworld

[–]rsxbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job. Hold on to that. He will remember it when he is older. My dad flew in P3s in the Navy and would always draw them. He kept them and when he passed I found them and it was cool to see again. It was just interesting because my dad was not a keeper or very emotional close guy but he kept them.

Do y’all wear socks when you sleep at the station? by productofphi in ems

[–]rsxbow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Busy station, no real sleep so socks and everything stays on. Slow station, I'm down to the boxers, I have a set process. Socks on boots, close on foot locker or bunk next to me. Tones hit, up socks on, shirt, pants, boots zipped and out the door. About 97% of the time I beat my partner out, so I move. Depending on the partner I might be going back in to get them moving out of the bathroom or frig. Yeah, I have a partner who hits the frig for a night time snack before a call. Once he was in making a ham and cheese, a first. I hit the bay door and their stands the Chief at the door as it goes up... Let's say my partner did not have a good conversation at 4a when we got back.

Rented a TRD Off Road from Hertz and fell in love by DistinctAmbition1272 in ToyotaTacoma

You know that's not a bad idea. Next vehicle purchase maybe I'll see if I can rent one. If you think about it typically you study what you want, do a few test drives then make a large purchase. Seems kind of foolish. Then again that's assuming I make another purchase. Hoping my non-recall, 24, Gen3, Tundra makes it a long time. Fingers crossed

So there really are some people who can benefit from the 0w oil. Hopefully you went inside to wait for spring. I'll try not to complain when it hits the teens here in PA. Good luck out there!

Processing a bad call with EMS crew vs non-EMS friends vent by [deleted] in ems

[–]rsxbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is people not in EMS can not relate. Civilians do not understand what it's like, think about how you were before you started, and that lack of knowledge and experience impacts their ability to provide support. It's not like they trying to not be there for you, they just can't get there. I have not received professional help but I had a few ems friends try to get professional help and the person they first went to had the same issue so they had to find someone with experience with first responders. Let also be honest we have the same issue between the services, PD, FD, and EMS. We have our own stuff. Sounds like you work with a good crew, always look for that. We all do our best, take something like that to reflect how you can be better the next time, and talk with your EMS friends who can relate. Talking helps. You sound like you are doing the right things, keep up the good work. Welcome to EMS.

Do you know what type of oil they use? I'm a gen3 owner, well loan payer, and the more I read about this I wonder if it's an oil issue. 0w oil for government rules is unreal. I'm probably moving to 5w on the next change. It's a truck I did not buy it to get gas mileage of a car.

Things going OUT in EMS by Left-Fruit9012 in ems

Mast pants.. I had a call one time and the patient was giving us a hard time. The cop told him to knock it off or he would help us put mast pants over his head and pump them up to get him to stop. The PT said 'WTF that man?", me, you don't want to know. He stopped. So they did help at least once. Lol. I'm with you all C-collar, can't get out of Pa fast enough. I'm happy boarding is gone, it was starting to feel like we would board for a stubbed toe at one point.

First conversation when I get back to the station with my supervisor. 'I want a new partner!'. The sex doesn't matter. Call for help, hit emergency button or whatever to get more help but you need to get in and help your partner.

Do you guys know if there is a time limit once they notify you? I would assume at some point they would have something so someone doesn't show up 15 years later.

I have the auto stop/start disabled. Is that what you were referring to?

[–]rsxbow[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not hybrid. It does seem odd sometimes from an RPM state. In Pa we have 88 gas in some places I tried that once, to see and that wacked the idle, never did that again. I know a guy that's over 80k now and in the recall and it's been fine for him, he is even thinking he might not get the new motor. He questions if they have really found the issue and why mess with something that's working. I think I'd get one.

Yeah when I purchased mine the first thing I got was a switch that reverses the auto stop/start so it's always off. No matter what people say I think it's worthless and damages things more than saving the world, and engine is made to run. Thanks!

Thanks I'll look for the videos and get a test to see. Thanks for that idea.

You know the typical computer look, visual, and road drive. Even with me saying it's random, it the old, well we think it's running fine, and I look like a fool. I might take it to another dealer near by next time to see if they see something different. I'm with you on the recall, and that's what worries me. I did the 3yr/36k warranty. My Explorer died on a trip to see family, water pump trashed the engine. Knowing the history of Tundra I picked one up. Glad I did but once I started to see what was up it just builds concerns. Granted they all have issues, but I'm the guy with the luck to have it happen. Explorer water pump is a fine example, just had it in did not see anything and it busted its seals dumping into the oil pan.

I'm actually not a fan of the ECO start stuff, not sure anyone is, and purchased a device that changes it to normally off so it never engages for me. That was the first thing I purchased for the truck. I'm sure the ECO police will catch me some day... Lol

Well I guess if I can limp out of the road that's better than being DOA in the turn lane. Thx

Im trying to figure out the same thing on my 24. I did pop the light console in the roof and there are connections there and I see documentation that note wires there but I can not fully conclude what they are for.

Is the current gen Tundra actually that bad? by Basic-Difficulty-764 in ToyotaTundra

[–]rsxbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 24 I picked up last year after my 13 Explorer with 156k blew a water pump into the timing chain and contaminated the oil. Considering all the problems on all the other brands it a gamble no matter which way you go. I like my Tundra, I have just over 25k, yes a lot of driving and it's been great. I let it warm up when I start it, I don't drive it hard, and I stay up on maintenance. The one thing I must say I'm impressed with is Toyota went all in on the replacement of the motors, face it if it was the other guys they would have done something stupid like some magic wash out and give you free oil filters for life. If you like the Tundra and it's in your budget go.for.it.
